Are visitors looking for new but not yet necessarily must hit or highly recommended breweries? I know when I’m traveling I’m only looking for must hit and highly recommended. Couldn’t care less about new.

Same goes with fine dining? And what constitutes fine dining? I could argue that Toronado’s food sometimes is better than I’ve had at quite expensive restaurants while no one would suggest their decor or service would fit that description.

I’ll put in a vote for adding new breweries. How do you know if they’re a “Must Hit”, or not, if you never try them. I didn’t hear about Mirage until I saw their beer on a Pint Defiance Facebook post, I think. It’d be nice to find all the new breweries in one place.

Sometimes people travel for work and are familiar with what's been around for a while but want to check out the newest stuff.

I dunno. Just throwing ideas at the wall.

Sorry. Didn’t mean to be critical. It’s a good suggestion. Just don’t want the post to get TL;DR.

Depends what you consider a visitor. I don't live in Seattle proper and try to avoid the city when possible since both traffic and parking is terrible, but I go every few weeks. I would have no clue about "new" stuff like the Masonry in Fremont unless it was mentioned here. Went the other day and it was fantastic.

And, sometimes "visitors" are from only a couple hours away. As much time as I spend online, and talking with folks IRL, even I sometimes miss the opening of a new brewery . I would vote for it. But, I'm not the one maintaining this thread. Shrug. YMMV.

I'd think if you only put new breweries on the list once it wouldn't add too much length. Especially if you leave off things like Floodland or Mirage, which visitors likely won't be able to try anyway.

A few thoughts, in the spirit of this constructive brainstorming. And please don't tread on me like the last time I was only trying to help.

Borrowing from @guajolote's truly overachieving sister thread, how about a couple pub crawl recommendations? Or, and because it's one of our bonafide FAQs, the regularly suggested itinerary for those who only have one day in the city and want to hit all the best breweries? By this I mean some variation of the Fremont→Reuben's→ Stoup→Holy Mountain→Cloudburst→Seapine circuit. @WA_Brian seems to be in possession of an encyclopedic knowledge of the King County Metro system, and could probably provide the corresponding bus route information for those originating from downtown off the top of his head, which would make it even more helpful.

Another thought: if the good @distantmantra got a nickel for every time he told people they could get burgers at Dick's or sandwiches at Paseo on their way to the UBG, his daughter's college fund would probably be all set by now. I'm sure he's happy to keep doing it, but providing that information at the outset - and perhaps for HM as well - wouldn't hurt. (FWIW, I'd also add PCC to the UBG option list, because it's considerably closer, and a more convenient choice for those coming from anywhere south, or without a car, or who can't stand to walk more than 5 minutes.)

Finally, if I were ever to argue for the inclusion of a place which hasn't even opened yet, it'd be The Shambles. It will, I gather, finally be opening soon; but given what I know about the great Joel Foods and his partner, there's no question it's going to be an outstanding addition to the Maple Leaf neighborhood and our local beer/food scene in general. It can wait, of course, until the next update, but I honestly feel as if they deserve the honor.
