Many of us agree that this forum could use an easily searchable/bump-able "I'm visiting Seattle, where should I go?" thread. Here, I'll attempt to cull the consensus "must-hits," along with other highly recommended Seattle breweries, brewpubs, bottle shops & beer bars that appear in this type of BA thread. Locations that offer crowler fills are included. Recommendations & suggestions are encouraged.

Note: Unlike some other states, Washington has incredibly lenient growler laws. There are some exceptions, but if it's a clean sealable container you can probably have it filled with beer.

I made some additions from the Spring thread, but not much has changed.

I have a Layover at SeaTac Airport. Where can I get a Beer?
Unlike Portland, the beer options at SeaTac are slim. You should be able to find standard offerings from Bale Breaker, Black Raven, Airways and Fremont alongside Pyramid, Red Hook, Mac and Jacks and the regular airport fare like Sam Adams and Bud Light. There is nowhere that sells bottles or cans to go in the airport and no one offers growler fills. Seriously, PDX is way better when it comes to beer. These are your best options for a pint before your flight.

Africa Lounge – Main Terminal (A gates)
Sports Page Pub – Main Terminal (D gates)
    Anthony’s – Main Terminal
Dungeness Bay Seafood House – South Satellite (S Gates)
Bigfoot Food and Spirits – North Satellite (N Gates)
Seattle Taproom – Main Terminal (A gates)
Seattle Seahawks 12 Club – North Satellite (N Gates)
Floret by Cafe Flora -- Main Terminal (A Gates)
    Tap & Pour -- A Gates and D Gates

There really isn't much around the airport. These are your best bets if you want to get out.
13 Coins - Across the street from the airport
Sharps Roasthouse - Two blocks from the airport

Nothing in particular. You just missed Zwanze and a few fresh hop events around the city last weekend.

The WA Beer Blog has an event calendar. The Great Pumpkin Beer Festival is happening. There will be a couple fresh hop tap takeovers in West Seattle through the weekend, and an Oktoberfest event at Harmon Brewing in Tacoma.

    Cheers!

Not really. I mean yeah there's always stuff but when people from out of town ask what's going on I always think wha they really want to know is "Are there big new beer releases scheduled for the weekend or some big festival?"

    Aaaaaand I lied.

Kentucky Dark Star (or whatever Fremont has to legally call it now) comes out on Saturday at the brewery.

Ok, now we're on the same page. Figured KDS release would be the #1 thing visitors wanted to know about these days.

What is the release like? Likely won't be checking a bag on the way back, but would love to stop by for a glass if it isn't too crazy.

It won't be too crazy for KDS but if you don't want bottles you have nothing to worry about. If you show up at opening (11) there will be a short line, but you can skip it. The walkway up to the front will be split in half. The left side is the line of people to get bottles, the right side is for anyone who doesn't want bottles.

Head to the right side and you should be able to try a 2016-2018 vertical of KDS, and more importantly some fresh hop beers.

I feel the same way when people come to Portland. Most other states have these hyped up can releases and tap takeovers and that's just not as common in the PNW. Of course Fremont just had to prove everyone wrong.

I actually think there are a fair number of tap takeovers in town, but you're right in that they don't seem to be widely publicized or hyped. Places like Tin Bucket, Arch Bridge and Beer O'clock have had absolutely mind blowing tap takes over in the past 6 months, but none of them really got a whole lot of hype. That's just not something you see much of here in PDX.

As for the can releases (in the vein of Trillium, Tree House and Bissell Brothers), Great Notion's Saturday can release is as close as we get I think (and I agree, their can releases are completely mellow and very sparsely attended by comparison).

Holy Mountain can releases can be like that, but they're so few and far between.

Braiar heart release Friday at urban family too. Might not be 'big' but it was phenomenal last year.

Just got back from a wonderful long weekend in Seattle. We went to Port Townsend on Saturday and stopped at Propolis. I had been wanting to try their beers for sometime, and I had no idea they were located there until my wife spotted them as we drove into town. We shared the flight of all 11 of their beers, which was awesome. Such a cool spot. Went to Fremont on Sunday late afternoon for a flight of fresh hop beers and a glass of BBA Dark Star. We ended up at the Flat Stick Pup in Pioneer Square on Monday. Very cool concept and excellent beer list. All in all, a great trip. Many thanks for all the helpful suggestions here!
