If you're up for a little side trip, swing by Ten Pin in Moses Lake. Also, as you approach Ellensburg, on I-90, there's a large fruit market on the left. They generally have a good selection of East side stuff. I've only had a couple of their beers, which I liked, Whipsaw Brewing is also in Eburg.

    There are also the options
Are you heading straight from the peninsula to the gorge? There are the options of Highway 2 and Highway 20 over the Cascades. Way more scenic than I-5, and both have beery options.

No, pickup car at seatac, head to olympic. Then seattle for a few days and then onward to a weekend camping at gorge.

Heres another quick question for you. Im a few blocks from the QA Masonry, but the Fremont location seems much better, would you agree?

Enjoy your visit! That fruit stand near Ellensburg I mentioned up thread will have plenty of stuff you might be interested in taking with you, if your camping.

Masonry Fremont is bigger and has a larger selection than Queen Anne Masonry, but everything at Fremont is for on-site consumption only if you care.\

If you have time take a detour to Yakima before heading over to the Gorge for the concert. Lots of great breweries and places over there worth your time.

The Olympic Peninsula isn't great for beer. A short detour to Port Townsend will get you to Propolis, an interesting brewery if you like unusual saisons. Port Townsend is a nice spot in its own right.

I'd say the best overall brewery west of Seattle, on that side of the water, would be Sound Brewery in Poulsbo.

When they’ve done some can releases in the past, yes. Not sure if that applies to the bottle selection.

Back home from another trip visiting some Seattle friends and just popped into the thread to give Urban Family some love. We had not been there on our last visit and came away impressed, and credit stopping as recommended here. We stopped by the established spots also (reubens, fremont, etc.) but I will make a point to get by UF on any subsequent trips.
But don't worry, I will carry on with not mentioning them to anyone out here.

Also Rusty Nail bottles just happening to be easily available during my visit was great.

I'm curious, has Cloudburst recently changed brewers? Or their yeast? Concentrating on newer, less popular hops perhaps?

I used to love going there whenever in town or searching their beers out at Beer Junction, Chuck's, etc. I'm in town about every 6 weeks, and the last 3 trips the quality of their hoppy beers has been way off. Three of them today i didn't even finish the 4oz tasters.
Maybe I've just had some bad timing, or my tastes have gravitated away from their style.

Great Notion cans ever in Seattle? If not, anyone making a pilgrimage this weekend for Ripe? Or in general.

I was excited to stop by for the first time this weekend when I was up in Seattle and grabbed a crowler of Eeee IPA, and was not impressed. I was a bit bummed out about that.

At least for now, I'm pretty sure you can only get cans at the two GN locations in PDX.

Thanks for the great thread on Seattle beer. I’m going to be visiting in a week (from Boston). We’re throwing a big party for my brother’s 40th birthday and I’m trying to figure out the best plan to get beer for the party. We’ll be in West Seattle. I’d like to get one or two smaller kegs (5 gal perhaps) and a bunch of cans or bottles. Mostly IPAs probably, but will need some other options as well.

I’ve seen all the great brewery recommendations on here but does anyone know if it’s possible to get kegs and where the best place to buy the beer would be? I saw Beer Junction mentioned in this thread. I also saw Costco mentioned. I’m a big Costco fan, but the Costcos out here in Boston don’t usually have good selections. What’s my best option?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

is in West Seattle. 5 gallon kegs aren't really a thing much out here, although you might be able to get 1/4 barrels some places. Try Georgetown brewing, it's just over the bridge from West Seattle. Honestly, I would just buy sixers, and fill a bunch of different growlers.

Are 1/6 barrels (5.16 gal) not that common in WA? They seem to be just as common if not more so than 1/4 barrels around these parts.

Happy to get you set up on some kegs. We usually keep around 20-30 in stock at any given time (mostly 1/6BBLs). We keep a live list of kegs on hand here:

    https://www.thebeerjunction.com/tap-list-c16hv

If your event is next weekend, we also have time to custom order you something. Shoot me a message (info at thebeerjunction.com) and let me know what you're looking for (styles, breweries, etc). Or if you want one of the kegs we have on hand you can just mention that and we'll get it reserved for you.

Breweries have them, they just tend to sell them to accounts more than the public. Why sell a 1/6bbl, when a 1/4bbl is just marginally bigger, physically?
