FYI, we brewed Citrus Galaxy for Seattle Beer Week as a one-and-done thing. Brewed a whole bunch all at once to time it with Seattle Beer Week. Shipped all the cans and kegs, cans are on shelves and kegs should tap on May 10. We don't currently have plans to brew more, (though we of course like the recipe and might bring it back for another round of kegs and growlers at some point in the future).

FYI, Seattle Costco has Bodhizafa, Shoreline and Issaquah Costcos have Lucille. We'd like to have our cans in more places, but we can only build more brewery so fast and still struggle to make enough to keep everyone in stock.

Hey, I got a question; Mollusk used to have a different name, and I'm spacing on it, what was it?

Epic Ales, which possibly made for some confusion with the other brewery of similar name.

I think The Dane (80th and 15th in Crown Hill) is or has an outdoor patio going. Elliott Bay Lake City has a nice patio out back.

Floodland night at Masonry and 3-Way Beta at Latona are the only two things I’m going to.

Got some updated information today, Costco recently started stocking Lucille in Kirkland, so do still keep an eye out.

Stoutfest at Brouwer's is one I do every year. Always a few things I'm excited to try, plus stoofvlees. Yum. Usually do one or two other events, as my schedule permits.

Sour Fest. I love trying a bunch of new beers and hitting a few favorites, but that's always my favorite event of the year.

Stout Fest always sounds fun, but the weather just doesn't work for me these days. I used to be a year-round stout kind of guy, but the Rusty and Ancient One releases on hot sunny days have proven to me that I just don't want a BA stout while sweating outside in the sunshine.

Mostly kidding here but I didn't realize they closed both floors inside and everyone had to sit on the patio for it.

Heading to the area for a week later this summer and splitting 3-4 days downtown-ish & then 3-4 days staying with friends in Tacoma. We want to hike and do some exploring but a rental car from Seatac is $550+ for a week, anyone have experience with stuff like zipcar and/or if uber and cell service is strong enough to get dropped off at a trailhead near town (haven't chosen a hike, 6-9mile trail advice also appreciated).

Ideally I am going to make a trip over to Fremont & Holy Mtn but will probably dive deeper into the page 1 list as we get close & check current taplists.

If you want to stay car-less, there's a weekend shuttle in Seattle that will bring you to Mt Si/Teneriffe. Obviously, Mt Si is very popular and it's hard to find parking on weekends.

I see zip cars at trailheads pretty frequently so that's fine too. Gives you more freedom with what you want to see.

Please excuse me if you already are aware of this, but....

The fact rental car companies are currently showing rental prices in the $500 range doesn't mean that's what the price will be by the time you get out here. The wife and I travel to California quite a bit and always rent a car. Invariably, when I look at the price a couple of months out, the price is in the $400 plus range for a week's rental. However, once our trip gets to be a few weeks away, invariably the price will start to come down. Almost always, the price will drop below $200 within a week of our pick-up date. 4 or 5 days before our trip is usually going to be the cheapest rate I'll see, and then the price will freeze or start to crawl back up again.

It takes some work and planning, and you need to check travel sites like Expedia, Kayak and SWA car rentals almost daily once your trip is a couple weeks out, but almost for certain you will not have to pay a rate that's anywhere close to $550 for a week of car rental in Seattle. It's certainly smart to have a back up plan just in case, but if you follow my advice, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the rate you end up having to actually pay.

    Good luck.

(P.S. There's no cost or obligation when you make a rental car reservation, and so typically I'll make 3 or 4 reservations before locking in on the best price. Travel sites like Expedia, SWA and Kayak could care less how many times you make and cancel a reservation, which is why I keep checking those sites, even after I have what I think is a pretty good rate. If the rental price drops $15 or $20 since my previous reservation, then I'll cancel my current reservation and lock in the new rate... and continue to monitor those sites in case the rate drops again).

Good call, thanks for the idea. I am generally an avid planner and like to have things locked down but I also like $300 a lot. Generally the "cheapest" price does lock you into a no refunds type situation however I think they are probably trying to curb the very process you beat them with. Thanks again for the tip, currently I am leaning towards lightrail+uber but if I can get a car for ~$200 I'd be all over it.

Not sure this fits the need, but sometimes it's cheaper to get a ride share (Uber, Lyft) from the airport, then use ReachNow, Car2Go, ZipCar, etc. to move around short trips in town. Plus if you need a rental car for the end of your trip, you're pretty much guaranteed to get better rates from an in-city rental car location than an airport location.

While that's true with hotels, airfare, etc., I've never found that to be the case with car rentals. Priceline will lock you into a price if you use their "name your own price" function for a car rental, but that's the only place I've ever seen that with car rentals. That being said, you might want to consider using priceline to further whittle down the price you have to pay. While this hasn't worked very often for me, a couple of times once I felt like I was locked into the best price available online, just for laughs and giggles, I tried priceline's name your own price function as well. As I recall, I proposed a rate that was $50 under the best rate I found elsewhere online. Almost every time Priceline told me to go jump in the lake, but on two occasions they bit and I saved an additional $50.

Eh, every little bit helps, no?

Im headed to Seattle in June for the first time - thanks for this thread, its aweomse. This might be a stupid question, but should I be expecting only West Coast IPA's in Seattle? Or are the breweries hitting the NE IPA scene hard as well?

Lot of area breweries making NE style IPA's these days. Just my two cents, but I think Reuben's versions are especially outstanding.

Unfortunately, I’m finding NE IPAs more abundant around here than NW IPAs these days. It’s a scourge.
