I love this wonderful poem by Cloudburst:

As a huge pumpkin beer fan, this sadly seems very true:

"But then one dreadful year, everything was changed.... Pumpkin beer was dead"

It really does seem like the love of pumpkin beer has died. This is only the second mention I've seen of pumpkin beer this year, and the first was Reuben's renaming their beer to no longer contain the word "pumpkin" (it's now Autumn Harvest) and getting rid of their best label in the process:

Come on @reubensbrews, that was not only a great label but made a great t-shirt! I know Fremont used to make pumpkin beer, but I can't remember the last time I've seen one. I don't even remember seeing much pumpkin beer last year, it just goes straight from fresh hops to stouts. It was sad saying goodbye to my favorite festival of the year, but losing out on all the fun new pumpkin beers each season is even worse. RIP.

Thanks for still making pumpkin beer @TotallyTrubular. Hopefully I can make it out there to try it.

pFriem just released a pumpkin beer.

I'm not a big fan of the style, but I'm tempted to try that one.

Same here. In fact, I've come to like it less and less over the years. So many of them are overly sweet and boozy, with a ton of spice that just wears on me after a while.

That being said, I hold pFriem in such high regard, that I'll likely make an exception in their case and give the beer a whirl.

Many years ago, in a different life, Sacramento brewing made a hoppy pumpkin pale ale of all things. It was absolutely delightful, and had plenty of pumpkin flavor without being overly sweet and boozy. If more breweries made a pumpkin ale in that vein, I might be a bigger fan of the style. Unfortunately, the style seems to be dominated by Dogfish Head and Southern Tier "wannabies."

The label was cool on a monitor, on the label it was kind of faded unfortunately! I like it too.

And we thought the beer was as much spice forward as pumpkin, which is why we updated the name.

    Cheers!
