Surely many of us agree that this forum could use an easily searchable/bump-able "I'm visiting Seattle, where should I go?" thread. Here, I'll attempt to cull the consensus "must-hits," along with other highly recommended Seattle breweries, brewpubs, bottle shops & beer bars that appear in this type of BA thread. Recommendations & suggestions are encouraged.

(Almost) Universally Recommended "Must-Hit" Breweries (None have food but you can bring in food or purchase from food trucks outside)
    Fremont Brewing
    Reuben's Brews
    Black Raven Brewing

Other Highly Recommended Breweries & Brewpubs
    Georgetown Brewing
    Stoup Brewing
    Elysian Brewing (multiple locations)
    Naked City Brewery and Taphouse
    Big Time Brewery and Alehouse

    Highly Recommended Beer Bars
    Beveridge Place Pub
    Brave Horse Tavern
    Brouwer's Cafe
    Burgundian
    Collin's Pub
    Hudson Public House
    Latona Pub
    The Noble Fir
    The Pine Box
    The Sixgill
    The Stumbling Monk
    Toronado Seattle
    Uber Tavern
    The Wurst Place

    Highly Recommended Bottle Shops
    99 Bottles
    The Beer Authority
    The Beer Junction
    Bottleworks
    Chuck's Hop Shop Central District
    Chuck's Hop Shop Greenwood
    Full Throttle Bottle
    The Last Drop Bottle Shop
    Malt & Vine
    ---------------------------------------------------
    (A Few) Beer-centric Restaurants
Just about any decent restaurant in Seattle has an acceptable beer list. Many are more-than-acceptable. This might be the most debatable section of this thread.

    Bambino's Pizzeria
    Chippy's Fish and Drink
    Eureka! Seattle

Special thanks goes out to @guajolote whose Portland version of this thread I plagiarized shamelessly. In essence, I cut and pasted from his Portland version and simply substituted Seattle for Portland and Seattle establishments for Portland establishments.

This is fantastic, I was literally just planning a trip to Seattle for this Saturday and wishing that this thread existed.

If 99 Bottles is here (and is worth the trip despite the distance), closer to the north is Special Brews, which has both a remarkable bottle selection as well as good taps; it would be a great choice for anyone with limited time and restricted to the far north of Seattle.

Just out of curiosity, what are you using for a definition of "Seattle"? The actual city? King county? I-5 Everett to Tacoma-ish?

I guess I didn't really think about it but I guess I would say the Seattle metropolitan area. That would include Seattle (of course), north through Lynnwood, south through Federal Way, east through Redmond, but nothing west of Seattle proper.

It was the addition of Black Raven that got me wondering. So, for the purposes of this thread, I-405 to SeaTac airport-ish is Seattle? Includes the Metro, the growing Bothell/Woodinville/Redmond beers scene, and borders the southern fringes (Kent, Puyallup, etc).

In this sense, I guess I would include as far north as American Brewing (Edmonds) and as far south at Airways (Kent) as part of Seattle --- although neither of these breweries get much love in this forum and were, thus, not include above. I would not include Puyallup. I would include Puyallup as part of the Tacoma metropolitan area, not Seattle.

As far as Black Raven's inclusion in this thread, it's pretty consistent that local BAs suggest Black Raven (and Malt & Vine, for that matter) when visitors are asking about Seattle "must-hit" places. It would have seemed odd (at least to me) to not include them. 99 Bottles also fits in this category, although it's technically in Federal Way.

This thread is great thank you for putting this together! I am going to be visiting Seattle for the first time at the end of September. Can't wait to check out as many of these as I can.

Question for the group, has anyone, or does anyone, go on any of the specialty brewery tour groups? I briefly looked at the "Brew Dogs" site, and was curious if it made sense to go on one of these organized tours, or if I'm better off going on my own.

Would love to know your thoughts, suggestions. Thanks in advance!

In approximately 3 miles, you can start at The Noble Fir and walk to Fremont Brewing. Along the way, you can hit Reuben's Brews, Stoup Brewing, Brouwer's Cafe, and The Sixgill. If you extend the walk another 2.5 miles or so beyond Fremont Brewing, you can also hit Bottleworks, Elysian Tangletown, Burgundian, Latona Pub, and Toronado Seattle.

You can cut down on much of the walking if you go to The Noble Fir, Reuben's Brews, and Stoup Brewing --- they are very close to each other. Then, cab (or Uber) to Brouwer's and then walk to The Sixgill and Fremont Brewing --- they are very close to each other. Skip Bottleworks (and go there on a different day). Cab or Uber to Elysian Tangletown and then walk to Burgundian, Latona Pub, and Toronado --- they are quite close to each other.

Depending on your definition of "walkable", there's a small cluster of breweries starting by the stadiums and going south on 1st ave. Elysian Fields, Pyramid, Schooner Exact, and Two Beers. Odin recently moved, and I'm not sure if they could be considered in that group. Big Al is in White Center, but I'm not sure that would be within the same grouping.

Big Al's would definitely not be in that grouping. While White Center is still technically Seattle, Big Al's is just this side of the city limits and would be considered Burien by many people.

Yeah, I am not at all familiar that part of the city, so I was totally guessing.

Well, it's South Seattle with the rest that you mentioned but it's not really walkable from those others. By car (and a DD), I would definitely put it in the cluster. Could also include The Beer Junction since White Center is very close to (or even in) West Seattle.

On a related note, is Epic Ales still down there on 1st Ave? Anyone know?
