The Fremont neighborhood is actually very close to Queen Anne. It's right next to it. In Fremont, you can hit Fremont Brewing, Brouwer's Cafe, and Sixgill.

I'm heading up to Seattle this weekend and was wondering if anyone has checked out The Flying Lion and if so what's your opinion of it?

I have a friend that lives in Kirkland and will be visiting me in mid-April. What store near there would you all recommend he stop by and what is on shelves between now and then that I should have him bring to Tampa?

He says he's about 20 minutes from Seattle, but I would prefer he not have to deal with traffic if possible. I like everything, but my favorite styles are sours. Obviously a good stout, ipa, or lager would not be passed up either.

    Thanks for yall's help. Cheers!

Malt and Vine in Redmond would be a good store on the East side.

    +1 for Malt & Vine
They just opened a bottle shop (smaller than M&V but with a few goodies) in Kirkland called Thirsty Hop - he may want to check that one out.
Also, depending on where in Kirkland he lives - Chuck's in Central District may only be like 20 mins away. That's one of the best shops around.
    Cheers

Also if he wants to have a beer in Kirkland there is a new bar open called Flatstick Pub that only serves WA beer (21 taps, constantly changing).

It's right on the Kirkland waterfront.

Really excited to be flying out to Seattle on Friday.

Question...how hard is it to get a table at Brouwers on a Friday around 6 or 7? Should I plan on it being pretty crazy or will it be fairly easy for a group of about six?

You might wait a little bit for a table that holds six, but nothing terrbly long.

Really great thread for anyone visiting Seattle. Time for an updated "spring" thread?

OK. Regular readers --- does Holy Mountain go in the "must hit" or "highly recommended" list at this point?

Elysian will be dropped from the list.

Anything else that should be included for the spring/summer update?

I'd say HM is highly recommended. I think we should give any place at least a year to get established before making them a must hit. That said, I fully expect HM to make the move on their 1st birthday, and not a second later.

Holy Mountain is a must. Their offerings are vastly different from every other brewery in the city. Can't miss it.

Co-sign. They've consistently had great stuff with every visit ... and usually it's one or two completely new great offerings every visit.

I'm visiting Saturday-Monday this weekend. Anything in particular happening this week/current in stores or on tap that I should make an effort to enjoy? I'll be staying downtown, but driving down from Vancouver (BC), so stops at Chucks 85th, for example, is pretty convenient - and already on the agenda.

I did notice that Toronado had tapped a good bit of Alpine, including Nelson and Duet, last night. I don't know if it'll last til the weekend, but we don't usually see Alpine up here.

That was the WA launch party for Alpine. I stopped in last night. Busy but not insane. Had some Hoppy Birthday. Based on their online taplist, it's all still available.

Someone else is tapping a bunch of Alpine on Thursday this week, can't remember where.

There's an Alpine/GF night at a place up here next week with Nelson, Duet, and 3 other Alpine's, along with 6 GF brews. So maybe we'll be seeing semi-regularly going forward?

This all comes as news to me. I had no idea Alpine was launching in WA at all. I'm on the outside looking in.
