I've been impressed with them lately, but they seem to get no love (or even acknowledgment that they exist) from most people on here. I've been guilty of ignoring them myself.

I only went once when they were in Ballard and thought it was decent, but not worth trying to find parking there on days I normally visit breweries (weekends, which can be painstaking in the area of Ballard they used to be in). The fact that their beer never showed up anywhere else locally didn't do them any favors as far as keeping them on my radar!

I think it may have been you who was saying good things about them recently, and that spurred me to head over to the "new" location and check them out. A big thank you because I've very much liked or even loved pretty much everything I've tried over there.

I hope people start paying more attention because they deserve it. I know they'll be in my regular rotation of places I want to visit.

I've been following this thread with interest because I'm moving to Seattle this summer. I was at Holy Mountain last time I was in Seattle which was awesome; I'm definitely going to check out Urban Family and Propolis. Are there any other under the radar farmhouse/sour/wild/brett breweries in Seattle?

On a side note what's which the slightly 1960's era cult sounding names? I feel like I'm going to hear about Manson Family Brewing Co. next...

Epic Ales in South Lake Union, but they're not consistent.

I'm sure you're already aware, but Propolis isn't in Seattle, fyi. It's about two hours away in Port Townsend. And unless you want to drive down South and then back up, you'll be hitching a ride on a ferry for part of the trek.

Thanks for the heads up about Propolis. I was under the impression that they were building a tasting room in Seattle.

Schooner Exact has a barrel-aged sour program. There's also Engine House 9 in Tacoma.

Nope, scenic ferry ride over to Port Townsend.

Stopped by cloudburst last night, and while certainly promising (love the space and beers were getting there), I wouldn't say it holds a candle to Reuben's, stoup, or Holy Mountain.

FWIW, they just took second at GABWF for Old Birdbrain, so they must still be doing something right.

Great update on Seattle! So many new places, not enough time. And FWIW, I'll always be a fan of Beaux and Black Raven.

My favorites are Reuben's and Hilliard's, followed by Stoup, Lucky Envelope and Flying Bike.

Technically it was a 2012 Old Birdbrain that won the award.

I'm not suggesting they don't make great beer. They do. I'd be psyched if they were closer to me. And the people that run the brewery are awesome. I'm not down on them as a brewery at all.

As someone that lives in West Seattle, I'll echo all of that. If you make it out to Georgetown, which is near by, check out Full Throttle Bottles as well. West Seattle Brewing is..well..meh. Elliot Bay Brewing in the Junction is also worth checking out. Good food and good brews. And oddly enough, the Thriftway grocery store in Morgan Junction has a great beer selection. I've found random hard to find stuff just sitting around, waiting for me to give it a good home.

If you find yourself in there, tell any bartender there that Paul says hi
