I walked into if release about 4:30 just as the line died. Huge UF fan and these were every bit as good as last year.

Shamles is definitely more busy than they expected this soon. Food has been great, tap list is solid, staff is really nice. Really love the Brussels and the mushrooms.

Went to The Shambles last night. They were absolutely slammed and still getting the kinks out, but I thought the food was fantastic and they had a great taplist.

The crowd there was not what I expected. More on the older side (50s-60s) and lots of people who seemed to be there because of the good write ups they’ve had in Eater, Seattle Times, etc. I always forget that Old Money Seattle can be an asshole.

Quick question for a friend: what's the name of the pizza place by Holy Mountain?

Yeah. The group sitting next to us were going out of their way to let the bar staff know they were too slow and demanding their meal be comped. Loudly yelling about it to anyone who would listen in a very passive aggressive manner.

Lame. They have been bit slow both times I've been but we're also clearly doing the best they could. They also seem to be constantly slammed and lunch and dinner.

Food so far has been very good so I'll definitely be back once the initial rush calms down bit.

I'm looking to do something different when I visit for a night in early April. I go to seattle frequently, but pretty much always do the same (generally close to downtown) beer spots: Cloudburst, HM, Brouwers, Pine Box, Fremont, chucks CD, Collins, etc (and, beyond that range, Toronado).

This time a small group of us are thinking we'll do an AirBNB out of downtown and want to visit 2-3 breweries/pubs/restaurants that we otherwise wouldn't get to or haven't tried. Places like Urban Family come to mind, but not sure what else near there is good. Read a bit that some people are keen on Shambles...but really generally open to suggestions to get outside my Seattle beer bubble.

Seapine, Urban Family, Shambles (might as well go to Last Drop across the street) and Latona Pub.

Depending on just where you get your rental, I would just say that Big Time and Naked City are a couple of my favorites. NC is in a neighborhood with a bunch of other worthy beer spots. BT is in the U-district, which isn't a terrible cab ride away from NC.

I went to Beer Star for the first time on Sunday with some friends and was really impressed. Beautiful space, pretty good selection on tap and to go, and the food options (Lil Woody's burgers and Chinese Takeout) inside were great.

Also, Last Drop Bottle Shop has greatly improved in the last year or so. Their coolers are fully stocked with better bottle and can options and they sell singles of most cans if you're not willing to commit to a full pack. One of the only places I've seen Revision cans around the city. Their tap list is impressive (lots of Holy Mountain, Skookum, Matchless, etc.) and they've stopped serving beer in plastic cups. If you haven't been there in a while, I'd recommend giving them another chance.

I would suggest you finding an AirBnB in the Ballard neighborhood and checking out the following breweries (some on the OP and some not): Stoup, Reuben's, Lucky Envelope, Maritime Pacific, Peddler, and NW Peaks. For food, you can hit Bramling Cross, Giddy Up Burgers, and Patxi's Pizza --- all with above average taplists/bottles/cans. Additionally for food, there will likely be food trucks in front of both Stoup and Reuben's and Maritime Pacific is a brewpub. It's possible that Peddler and NW Peaks also have food, I just don't know.

All of the places I mentioned are within very easy walking distance of each other. If you want to get in a car, you can hit Urban Family and Rooftop in a very short drive. They're also within walking distance of the other places I've mentioned but it's a hike.

It's the first of March, which means that Spring is right the corner. I'm taking over duties for this thread and have started thinking about the Spring edition of this thread.

I've got some ideas for changes:
-Noting whether a location is kid friendly or 21+.
-Adding Ravenna, Lucky Envelope and Rooftop to Other Highly Recommended Breweries.
-Adding No Anchor and Beer Star to Bars.
-Adding Eureka U Village and The Shambles to restaurants.
-Putting Full Throttle back on the bottle shop list. They've reopened under new ownership, and you can drink on site as well.
-Considering removing Schooner Exact. They're in the middle of some serious growing pains. The old owners are no longer involved and the people behind Belltown Brewing are now in charge. They closed down the taproom/restaurant in January and it will be reopening sometime in the Spring. Thoughts?

Also, are there are any additions you'd like to see? Any other places on the list that people feel shouldn't be here anymore? Is Bambinos relevant anymore?

I'm open to constructive criticism. Thanks.

First, thanks for taking this over. Much appreciated.

Here are my initial thoughts: I originally had Eureka U Village on the list because their taplist and food are high-quality. However, the music is so loud in there and the service often so poor that I made an executive decision and pulled them off a year or so ago.

I agree that Lucky Envelope and Rooftop are contenders for the list. But Ravenna? Have they been open long enough and received enough mention in this forum to warrant a status of "highly recommended"?

And yes, for sure, yes, to The Shambles being added.
