Checking out the Spokane/Coeur d'Alene areas this weekend, and looking for brewery and store recommendations. Brought a bag with me to take beer back, but sadly didn't have a chance to set up any trades.

I lean towards the BA stouts and sours/wild ales, but happy to hear about anything. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Thanks, @beertunes, I missed that thread my first time through. Will be checking out Selkirk today or tomorrow.

Hey Spokane BAs! I'll be there for a week in early Dec, and looking for good spots walking distance from the downtown area

Where are you staying? There are 5 local breweries down town. Check out Blackbird for the best taplist that you can walk to. Post Street Ale House, Nectar in Kendall Yards, and Saranac all are worth cheking out as well. Lot's of other options within 5 miles but not walkable. We do have Uber and Lyft.

You are right in the middle of everything at Ruby. Manito Tap House and Republic.Pi are in the same parking lot. Both have excellent food and great taps. Manito probably being the best selection in town. Probably $7 Uber up there.

Everyone I have mentioned uses Tap Hunter so I would look online and see whats on tap. Then make decisions. Perry Street Brewing is my favorite brewery in town. Probably a $7 Uber from Ruby.

Damn, I have to check out Rep. Pi. I don't get to Manito Tap House that often. I concede it's generally the best set of taps in town, but I find it a bit too stuffy - plus the parking lot is always a menace. It's like a really slow version of Mad Max where elderly drivers' senility and imbecility replace the post-apocalype horror.

I agree with @checktherhyme - Ruby is a great location for downtown Spokane. Within walking distance, there's also Tamarack, a pub I've yet to get around to going to but looks like a cool place, Orlison's Tap Room (for a mostly lager brewery making beer in Airway Heights) is a couple blocks down the street to the west, Black Label Brewing is on Main and are worth a visit as well. River City Brewing isn't very far away, and Iron Goat should be in their new space on 2nd Ave by then - again not too far, and they brew some great beers.

Just got back from that area today, we went to black bird for lunch and it's awesome (owned by the same people that own manito) couple other places we went to are daft badger brewery in couer dlane, crafted in coeur dlane its as good as blackbird in food and tap wise, last place is big barn brewery out in mead off the beaten path, really cool small place actually in an old revamped barn with really good beer as well they were our best find this weekend!

Thanks for this thread and the link to the other thread. Makes the places to hit easier to figure out.

Is Bale Breaker IPA relatively easy to find? Visiting from Colo this weekend and looking to bring some back. Would the Main Market Co-op have any (closest place with cans/bottles to where I'm staying).

Check out Nectar in Kendall Yards (you can walk). They have awesome taps and they just got the Bale Breaker/Stone Collab in today. It will be on tap too at some point soon. They have BB cans too usually. Main Market is also really good.

Cans of Bale Breaker are available at any supermarket in Spokanistan/CDA.

When and where are Iron Goat opening?

Also, to add to the OP, the Perry District has the brewery, a great pizza joint, and then the Lantern which used to be one of the smallest bars in town, but they bought the restaurant next door and it's worth a visit.

If you go to that part of town, you're in a "middle ground" between downtown and up to Republic Pi and Manito Tap House. So you could do a loop from Ruby, to Perry, to Manito/Pi and then back down town.

According to one of their employees I spoke to recently, it's going slower than anticipated. They're now looking at Jan. or Feb.

What building are they looking at taking over?

Its a historical building on 2nd and Madison I believe. It used to be an auto shop. Really cool space.

It was Jones Automotive or Jones Engines or something like that. No relation to Jones Radiator (though apparently the genesis of Iron Goat happened over pints at Jones, so it's kinda fitting). I guess it will double their brewing capacity at the very least, so I'm hoping I can wander home with growlers of beers that are currently available for on-premises only consumption, like Goatnik and it's occasional barrel-aged variants.

I wouldn't quite say all, but it's plentiful around town for sure. Any halfway decent grocery store should have it, and if a bottle shop doesn't, it's a serious black mark against them.

And, perhaps the occasional growler for somebody in the Fourth Corner?:flushed::rolling_eyes:
