Visiting Spokane/Coeur d'Alene

Bottles is great. If I lived in the valley, I'd be there all the time. I just wish their location wasn't on the rush hour parking lot known as Argonne Road!

I don't hit J.B.'s that often, and didn't realize they had growler fills now, let alone 20 of them! Do they post what they've got on-tap anywhere?

Incidentally, I hit Steel Barrel Saturday night after work and was impressed. Lots of great beers on, even if 3-Way was already long wiped out. I especially enjoyed the Young Buck Farmhouse Funk Ale. The Young Buck owner gave a number of us a tour of the brewing set-up and the barrel room. Even had my first ever ceviche experience courtesy of Zona Blanca, which was quite tasty. Just remember, for those of you interested that read this: Zona Blanca is a separate enterprise that shares seating with Steel Barrel. If you're drinking and dining on plastic, you'll have to retrieve your card from Steel Barrel if you handed it to the bartender to keep your tap open.

 

No kidding on the whole Argonne Road parking lot. Bottles parking lot at the shop is often tight, too...

Thanks for the heads-up on Steel Barrel. My folks still live in Spokane, so I'll definitely check them out next time I head over the mountains to visit.

 

Relevant info for Spokane-area beer nerds: Manito tap house just put on a keg of Hop Venom. Also related; I heard Boneyard is going to start distributing in Eastern WA (and OR) soon. Tried to press for more info but no luck. "Soon" is good enough for me.

 

Yeah, I saw that it was "soon" on their menu. I think when I asked they said that their club members were getting access to it for a few days before the general public.

Then I saw on twitter that they'd released it to the pee-on's, so I am hoping that it's still on come Friday.

I don't think JB's posts what they have anywhere. In fact, I checked Tap Hunter and they're not on there.

Incidentally, do Bottles post what they have on Tap? I used to go there quite often, but started drifting away...sounds like it may be time to revisit.

 

I'm not sure if they do or not. It's something I'm curious about myself.

Well, if ya like the taste of hype, Manito tap house has 2x4 on now. Personally, I'm a big fan of Iron Goat.

 

Was going to hit up iron goat in a bit. Any good food around there, worth walking around?

 

Went to iron goat. Was ok. Cool place, but the beer was just so so. The sours were just ok, and the rest of the stuff was pretty basic.

 

They're still catching up production-wise from the move, distribution comes first - they're still doing some occasional specialties, but not as regularly as at the old place.

 

Calling all hype-heads: Boneyard is coming to the Spokane/CdA market starting Sept. 1.

 

I, personally, disagree. I think Boneyard has earned their chatter, I think they make brews that stand out from the crowd.

 

Just joshin' - I'm a fan of both Boneyard and Melvin.

 

And, I don't hate Melvin. Awwww, it's a hugfest.

 

Just to bring things full circle, drinking an Iron Goat gin barrel Head Butt at Manito - even better than I remembered - and getting some 2x4 to go.

I am in Liberty Lakes. Any spots that might have the 2x4 to take home? Or any good bottle shops this side of Spokane?

 

Only good place even kinda close to you that I know of is Bottles on Argonne in the Valley.


And Manito Tap House is the only place that has 2x4 in town and they very likely drove to Seattle to get the keg

So stoked. They're my favourite brewery that isn't De Garde. Whered you hear it from? Any idea who they’re going to be using for distribution?
