I'm flying in to STL today which is the start of STL CBW. I'll be there until Tuesday afternoon Aug. 2.

I have definite plans to go to:
Friday: The Wine and Cheese Place or Craft Beer Cellar in Clayton for bottles
    Saturday: Side Project
    Sunday: 4 Hands
Bottle Release on July 31, for Vol. 4, Rapture, and Revelation.
Monday: Perennial Between the Barrels to hopefully try BA Abaxas in particular.

Anything on the shelf that is solid that I should look for at the bottle shops? I come from Pittsburgh, and we have very limited distribution compared to cities of comparable size. My favorite styles are BA Stouts and English BW.

What place is truly the best for BBQ? Bogarts, Pappy's or Sugarfire? Maybe I'll do 2 of them LOL

Would I be remiss to skip the AB Tour? I figure it might be nice for the experience, rather than the beer.

Is there anything else that is must see that's this weekend?

Also, I did read the old threads for suggestions for things to do in STL, but I didn't see much about Night Life activities, particularly for a single guy. Any recommendations on that end?

Finally, I'm open to meeting up with anyone at these events if you drop me a line. If I'm going to try some of the Side Project beers in the cellar, I'd hate to do it alone!

You should buy all the 2nd Shift bottles you can get. Seriously

Consider Midwest Belgian Beer Fest tomorrow, expensive but a good list. So many options of things to do every night it seems.

The AB tour really is pretty cool. It is much better than any tour I've been on at a "craft" brewery.

For a single guy, I guess the best crafty place would be Itap Soulard or CWE in the evenings. They get a pretty crowd

Also, eat at Schlafly Tap Room. Visit Narrow Gauge (not exactly close though) and Modern Brewing if you can. UCBC Grove beer hall has good food and decent beer.

Had the Art of Neurosis and really enjoyed it! I may buy a bottle of Brew Cocky to take home.

Which AB tour do you recommend, the $35 dollar one? Looks like I'll have to purchase them in advance.

Checked out SoHa last night. Ordered the Prime Rib entree and Goat Cheese app. Both were excellent!

I'll see if I can get to the others sometime this weekend.

The only AB tour I've been on was free and didn't require advance notice, I think you just sign up at the visitor's center.

Try some of the 2nd shift saison/farmhouse beers, excellent stuff, nice and funky.

SOHA is definitely a good spot, always solid food and good beer list.

I'll be at SP Cellar later tonight in case you go too
