I'm taking the family to St. Louis next weekend. It's mainly a trip for the kids, but I'm looking at maybe one visit to a kid friendly place with a good beer selection (Schafly Bottleworks, Lleweyns, or something else....) and a stop at a good beer store before I return to Beer Hell (MS). We're staying off of I44 near the Hill. Suggestions would be appreciated.
I'm headed up the 8-11 to hit Schlafly, Six Row, Perennial and Urban Chestnut. I always make a point to hit Friar Tuck's when I head that way. Awesome, awesome beer selection and I always take $100 to spend. http://www.friartuckonline.com/Index.aspx
Best beer store near where you are staying is one of the best in town: Randall's at I-44 and Jefferson. Both Bottleworks & Tap Room are kid friendly, but the best combination of kid friendly & good selection is Baileys' Range. 30 taps of all local beer plus great burgers and milkshakes, can't beat that. I would also check out the Good Pie. Great pizza and great beer selection. People always bring their kids in there. If City Museum isn't on the agenda for the kids, it should be. Really cool place.
Not attempting to thread jack, but I'm also headed to St. Louis from June 18th to the 22nd. Staying downtown. Looks like I need to hit The Bridge and International Tap House. Any bottleshops d'town? Thanks and any other recommendations are welcome. I will not have a car, business trip. Like Southdeltan, I'm also representing Miss. Cheers
Bottleworks (over the taproom) and Baileys were already on the Short list. City Museum is on the Agenda (arch/citymuseum/zoo/botanical garden). I'll look into Friar Tuck's and Randall's. Thanks for the advice. I didn't bother asking on Trip Advisor - I would have got the "AB Tour start at X time". Not that I don't want to do that at some point, but it's more of a trip for the kids. But kids have to eat, preferably somewhere with good beer .
Also consider doing the Magic House in Kirkwood and then hitting Pi Pizza there, the most kid friendly of the Pi locations.
Yea, between the Bridge and iTap, you've got a lot of taps to choose from. iTap doesn't serve food, but you can have food delivered or bring it in. If you can hit Bogart's for lunch, you should. Some damn good Memphis style BBQ near iTap. As for bottleshops, I would think about hopping on the metrolink blue line (or Shrewsbury line, not sure what they call it) and taking it to the Forsyth stop. That stop is right by Wine & Cheese Place, generally ranked the best bottle shop in town. Also, iTap does bottles to go.
