There's a lot of snow in the passes at the moment (as we had a huge storm a week ago that the area has yet to fully recover from), but that's fairly atypical, even in December or January. That being said, snow is certainly a possibility in the winter time, so I wouldn't entirely rule it out.

I can't see into the future so I can't definitively tell you that you have nothing to worry about, but based on past experiences, the odds are good that you should be able to drive over to Tillamook without much problem. Of course you'll want to drive over at a reasonable time, so that any possible snow and ice will have had a chance to melt, and to allow the roads to be cleared if necessary. If you do that, the odds are very good that you'll be OK.

    Good luck.

I made the drive on this past thursday, it wasn't bad just super slow (25 mph for awhile) with all the trucks traveling on the road. Rain and higher temps this week should wash off most of the snow for an ok drive this upcoming weekend.

Thanks a lot guys. Will be there end of this month, so just hoping the weather to be good. How's the beach right now? I know it wouldn't be the best time to visit beach right now, but damn the Pelican pub's view seems crazy.

Don't forget to stop by Twist Wine while you're visiting Pacific City.

Just made the drive on Sunday. It was a white-knuckler through the pass for sure, and my rental did not have chains or studded tires, so that was an adventure, but if you're careful you'll be fine.Tillamook was 50 degrees and sunny once we got there though and the visit/tasting was incredible. Now if I could just get Southwest to stop canceling flights and I could get back to Minnesota, that would be greeeaaat.

Thanks for restoring my faith in (beer geek) humanity. You are one of the few to ask about the rather spectacular shoreline instead of how long it takes to get there and back to Portland and whether it is worth the time and effort.

What @honkduh says is truth. Be prepared for rain/wind, but you'd be surprised at how many beautiful beach days there are in the winter.

Anyone ever have a dG bottle explode? Popped a Oude Desay in the fridge tonight, and about 2 hours later came back to find it had exploded all over. I expect it was a compromised bottle, but nonetheless a bummer.

As a consolation, my fridge smells amazing, much to my wife's displeasure.

    That's unfortunate.

Perhaps she had unknowingly pulled the pin on your clam grenade?

Is Clam Grenade the imperial version of Clam Gun?

No, it's for when you wanna beer someone up, but don't wanna get to close to do it. So, ya just toss a Clam Grenade.

Sorry if no one is interested, but had huge trip from South Korea to Portland... so here is my experience. Drived from Portland to Tilamook. Took around 1 hour 30 min. Drove through a mountain, at night it was really dark, foggy and the road was icy so had hard time driving. Visited Blue Heron cheese factory. Free cheese and other stuffs (mustards, jams, ...) were very good and I like the ice cream.

There weren't many people in the brewery since it was raining. Had Peach Bu on tap, incredible peach nose. The on-premise bottle list was mind blowing. Had EoC and The Broken Truck, were too much for me so shared them with other people and the staffs. The staffs were really friendly, and the atmosphere was incredible. Felt like I was in Belgium.

Couldn't visit the beach since it was too late, but it was a great trip and really worth the effort. I want to visit again with my best beer buddies one day. de Garde, thanks for the wonderful experience!

    Cheese is really great.
I know I'm right this one time (while I'm drinking this incredibly on topic beer).
