Looks like this thread is from two years ago but I'm doing the trip the original poster did this weekend. Any updates here? Looks like Khoury's is south, any beer stores worth hitting off Route 15 north?
Khoury's is not to far from McCarran Airport, and remains your best bet. Beer becomes a wasteland beyond Las Vegas north into Utah. The major difference over the past two years is Russian River began distributing in Vegas this year, and 3 Floyds will distribute beer starting this week with several taps at Beer Zombies/Tenaya Creek this Friday. The Silver Stamp will dedicate next week to Belgium beers. Those three places are your best bet for your upcoming trip for to go and on premise. Hope you have a great trip in Utah and Viva Las Vegas!
Planning a road trip to St George, Utah to go check the National Parks in the area. Looks to be a dry area. Not much information here for Breweries, pubs or beer store. I know Utah is a 5% state unless you buy bottled or cans. Crazy. So any help on St George and the area is appreciated.
This some crazy sh!te law! I’ll be driving to Moab in a few days to start our 5/6/7 day road trip through the Big 5 parks & more. I’ll be bringing plenty of cans for the trip. I’ll definitely be checking out Moab Brewery in and the places in St George, not expecting too much as far as beer. But I’ve been to places worse.
Hey..I haven't been down that way in 10 yrs...I know there is a brewery in St George, Silver Reef, but I don't know much about their beers. There is a State run liquor store there too, we don't have bottle shops : ( You should be able to get some good locals. look for anything from TF Brewing, Level Crossing, Shades, 2 Row, Epic...looks like they have a couple bottles of BCBS vanilla and Macaroon if you missed out on those. We don't get much here in the way of national Distro, you'll probaly see the usual suspects there like Dragons Milk, Boulevard Quad, Founders Breakfast stout...... Hope that helps...hit me up if you have questions!
We hit up Moab Brewery last night for beer n grub. The grub was definitely better than their beers. But I bought their draft instead of their cans. Meh. Today, our last night in Moab I wanted to stop in Proper after checking out Arches and Canyonland National Parks. This Hop vs Hop cost me $15! But I wanted to try something with more octane here. Worth it? Not for $15+. Strong. We will be in St George in 2 days. Cheers.
The folks who own Ellis Island Casino used to brew their beer onsite in a small brewery adjacent to their casino. To gain space to expand their casino, and to create their famous Holiday Egg Nog everyone should seek out, they built Silver Reef Brewery and Distillery several years ago. People are likely more exposed to their offerings visiting Vegas, including at their Front Yard, which is thankfully a non smoking section and serves their expanded lineup for craft beers beyond their four primary house brands they have been serving for decades. Find these craft beers to be hit or miss, OK for the most part. Not a destination place beyond the Egg Nog, but in Saint George likely one of the best options. I’ve been to Saint George a few times, and drinking options in general are limited and also subject to the Utah 5% max ABV draft rule, though they can serve stronger canned or bottled. Seems like a silly regulation.
oh..your already down there..Sweet. Beautiful weather down there I bet, Heads up though, storm rolling in end of the week.. Think it's suppose to hit thurs, could get snow in Cedar city so if your going that way plan ahead! I didn't even know Proper was down there, there's one in Salt Lake, I rarely get their beers. $15 for that? man that sucks...have fun on the rest of your journey!
Interesting info, I'm suprsied they decided to build it in st george and not Mesquite or Vegas?...Thanks for sharing. I heard the food is pretty good.
Reading this stuff is wild What a fucking ass backwards state It could be heaven on earth , but i wouldn't give that state a dime . I'll keep my ass in the Sequoias
Didn’t eat there. The burgers did look good. Had rib eye tonight in Bryce Canyon City at Rubys Inn and it was delicious. Tomorrow, burgers in St George. We are cutting our road trip 1 day short because of the storms rolling in. Utah is full of wonders and surprises for the wife and I. Totally awesome road trip before retirement. Glad I brought enough of my local cans with me on this trip. Cheers to Utah!
This trip wasn’t about their beers. Oh I wish it was. The scenery is nothing like I imagined. Their beers, yes. This trip has been on our bucket list. Back in day we with our 5 & 7 year old boys backpacked throughout the Sierra’s for 12+ years. My number 1 place to go. We’ve encountered bears on many trips. High Sierra’s is my favorite. Don’t come for the beers. Come for the diverse landscapes. Worth the road trip!
I know. It was on my list, but these laws are deeper than "just beer " . I'm sure they'll get the hang of shit soon , not tLkin bout beer, and then i will visit. It is indeed a beautiful landscape
I'll be in Salt Lake City next week and it is a yearly trip for work. There are quite a few good breweries in the area. Kiitos, Templin Family, RoHa Brewing Project, and Salt Flats are personal favorites.
There's a new Level Crossing location downtown on 5th south..good beers and pizza. they're probably my favorite local brewery right now
