Hello beer geeks! At the end of March I'm going out to Vancouver for work for 3 days then heading to Whistler for some snowboarding for the weekend. Does anyone have any recommendations for breweries downtown Vancouver, on the way to Whistler, or by Whistler that I HAVE to check out? Also, being the beer nut I am, I'm bringing a separate suitcase just for amazing beers to bring home. Any recommendations on beers I should be looking for in bottle around Vancouver? Thanks everyone!
Check the Vancouver thread here: https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/vancouver-winter-16-17.467788/ Whistler I can't imagine you'll find much that you wouldn't find in Vancouver. Whistler Brewhouse or whatever it's called now used to have some decent brews at their brewpub. Important to note it's NOT the same thing as Whistler Brewing. The BCL in Whistler has a decent whisky section if all else fails. Lots will change in Van over the next 2 months so I'd keep an eye on that thread for anything fresh. IPA game is strong here these days.
On the way to Whistler, you could stop in Squamish and visit the Howe Sound brewpub. Menu here: http://www.howesound.com/brew-pub
So it's funny you mentioned Howe Sound Brewery. I was in a local store in Washington DC today and picked up a bottle of their Pothole Filler Imperial Stout. Looking forward to trying it!
I can't figure out how to post a pic of the last one I have but if it's still there ( was 2 weeks ago) Whistle Brewing Co limited edition chestnut ale. Oh yeah!
