Agreed. After Alchemist and HFB, (and finding some Lawsons) Lost Nation is a must.

I loved Magic Hat Heart of Darkness last year. It's available in their winter 12 pack. Hope it's released in 6 packs. Their website states it will.

Back OT, I was going to visit HF and Alchemist tomorrow, but I'm having some trouble deconflicting my trip with their hours. I've got 5 hours to drive, dogs to kennel, etc. If I went tomorrow, I'd probably get to HF around 3, then jet over to the Alchemist, and then...drive home? Stay the night in a hotel just to drive home the next day?

If I go next weekend, I can leave early-ish on Friday, possibly even getting to the Alchemist while they're still open, grab some grub, stay the night; then on Saturday, hit up HF, some local shops, eat, drive home.

Anyone else make a similar distance trip up there lately (or anyone local) have any advice?

Don't go to the Alchemist for Heady tomorrow (10/26), they sold out today and won't have more until Monday.

Yep; your best bet is to call stores that carry it and see if any is left. Since the foliage is done and we won't be skiing for a few weeks you might get lucky.

I go to mid NH from Bethel CT, about 1.5 hours shy of The Alchemist pretty routinely for work as a day trip. It is 3.5 hours of driving each way. The ride north of Springfield MA is easy - I've done it at all hours. When staying over for work or a weekend away I always stay in Claremont NH at The Common Man, a super nice converted mill. Easy drive from there to VT.

Btw the Common Man takes dogs! Kennel costs saved can now be directed towards beer.

Five hours with two 70-lb dogs in the trunk of a sedan probably wouldn't be considered too humane. :grinning:
