I have a short trip but I'm looking for suggestions on beer stores w hard to find beers, stuff I can't really find in NY. If there are any good bars or breweries close by that would work.

    Thanks in advance!

Cape Fear Wine & Beer is a good craft bar. Lighthouse Beer & Wine for a shop.

Come see us at Front St. Brewery. There's a possibility our Single Hop Mosaic Saison will be on tap. We also do a nice little tour everyday between 3 and 5. Tours start at 3, 3:45 and 4:30 each day and although it's not much of a walking tour but you get to speak directly to a brewer and get some free samples. I second the post above about Cape Fear Wine & Beer and Lighthouse. Satellite is a cool bar a bit off the beaten path with a good beer selection as well. Cheers!

I second the suggestion of Front St. Brewery - had the chance to try some of their beers as Savor this year (when I was living in Hoboken) and found them enjoyable.

These are a definite. Also found some good choices at WholeFoods when we stopped last year. Stocked up on stuff we can't get inNY. There are beers from NC VA and stuff like Bells from MI.

We are headed down at the end of August and hope to check out some new spots.

I travel tons and I have hit pretty much all the places of note from Maryland south. Cape Fear Wine and Beer is at the top of the list of those bars. They know their beers, they are one of the older craft bars in the south, I believe just recently 10 years old. If it's distributed in NC, and its hard to get, they get it. Not to be missed.

All of the above posts are on the money. If Eccentric Nobility is still on tap at Front Street, GET IT. Out of this world good. Definitely check out Fermental! It's a relatively new beer/wine store. Great beer, great people, and they sometimes beat Lighthouse to the punch with new releases! Also, I got a sneak peek at the Mosaic Saison. Pineapple deliciousness. Do the right thing.
