I'll be visiting Philly on sunday, briefly albeit, but always time for a beer run. Just wondering if there is anything i should look for or some thing i cant get in the nyc area?
i saw that RR distributes out there. any chance for a pliny???!!!???!!!

You should definitely find a Pliny on draft somewhere. Check out beermenus and it should point you in the right direction. If you have the time (and can't find a Pliny), take the 1/2 hour drive out to Tired Hands in Ardmore.

I would check Monk's Cafe...not sure how often they have Pliny on tap but they routinely have Russian River (as well as other great beers).

Personally I love hitting up Monk's and Eulogy when I am in Philly. If their Barcade is anything like the one in NY then that could be a fun place to hit as well.

If you have a car, I'd recommend driving 20-25 minutes outside the city to Tired Hands in Ardmore. Great beers and food, can get growlers to go, and a good store you can buy singles and bombers at called The Beer Shoppe is a block or two away.

Russian River beers on draft right now in Philly. All 4 are on at Monk's so you could knock them all out in one stop if time is limited.

If you have a smartphone be sure to bookmark www.PhillyTapfinder.com

That'll steer you in the right direction as far as what's on draft in Philly.

Tired Hands outside the city. I've found the breweries actually in Philadelphia are kind of mediocre in Manayunk, Iron Hill, and Triumph, thought I liked the food at Triumph and would rank that best of those three. I'd either go to TH or just hit up the better beer bars.

You can do both if you stop by Local 44, they have a bar and bottle shop. As far as things you can't get in NYC, they have Oxbow farmhouse pale on tap at the moment and they had RR Temptation bottles in their bottle shop earlier this week. I'm sure you'll be able to find some other stuff you can't get in NY.

Go to the http://www.fooderybeer.com/. It's a short walk from Monk's. They the best bottle selection in the city.

You can also take the SEPTA Paoli/Thorndale line to the Ardmore train station. Tired Hands is literally like 2 blocks away.

No love for Yards? Besides the normal lineup, they also have other limited release beers on tap at the tasting room.

I actually haven't gotten a chance to visit their tasting room yet, though I plan on doing it one of these trips. So far I haven't been super impressed by their distributed stuff that I've had (GW Porter, Cape of Good Hope, PRT Spruce Ale), but I'd definitely be willing to check out their tasting room and other beers.

I'm going to be in Philly this weekend also. Does Tired Hands bottle and can you pick those up in Philly without going to Ardmore?

I don't know, but doubt it. I saw 2 Temptations left at Beer Heaven about a week+ ago. After tax, it would be over $20/ea!

There was one rare occasion that I saw TH on draft outside of the brewery. They don't even have bottles at the brewery, let alone in stores in Philly.
