Surly has 4 of the top 6 beers, but is the 3rd ranked brewery?

    Someone is bad at maths

Depends, maybe people ranked Breweries based on what it's like to visit them. Fulton down by the stadium has some advantages over Surly's warehouse.

The number one brewery on this list happens to be a contract brewery with great partners in making quality beer. Nice to see nobody cares where it is brewed from. Summit well they are Summit. Todd from Surly deserves a shout out. Also, the number 4 brewery Lift Bridge doesn't have anything in the top ten beer wise! So it looks like they are an underrated brewery making great beer across the board. Finally, the number 5 brewery deserves its acolades too bad they don't bottle their stuff.

I was surprised not to see Muddy Waters or Butcher and the Boar on the best tap lists, perhaps even Devil's Advocate. Maybe the latter two are too new and will come on next year. All I have to say about the breweries is thanks to those putting out some great local beers these days. As for the beers, everyone has their preference. Personally, I would put Wet, Abrasive, Size 7 and Boom Island Tripel up there; but everyone has different tastes, which is to be respected.

I guess these are made to be argument/conversation starters but I can't imagine why Fulton would be ahead of Schell and Steel Toe let alone Surly and Summit.

Yeah, they're OK, but not best in the TC.

Right, I don't mean that as a put down to Fulton, I like them.

Who knows how Vita.mn determined the lists. Muddy Waters should have been on the list.

Beats the City Pages 'Best of' issue that proclaimed the Happy Gnome as 'Best Brewpub'.

Before the Dawn is the best (IMO) beer in MN this year and it's not even close (IMO). Size 7 should also be on the list (IMO) and it's a shame it's not (IMO). Camo is awful (IMO).

Of course, this is all just my opinion.

Fulton on tap ~ good. Fulton in bottle ~ bad. Great tap room!

Before the Dawn is definitely very high on the list, if not at the top - just wish I could have grabbed more than 4 bottles. My love for Templeton Rye may be influencing my opinion, though...

And yes, Camo is terrible. One of my very few drain pours...

    Question...How were the winners determined?
Answer...The winners recieved the most votes on the Vita.MN website.

Question...How do you win City Pages awards?
    Answer...Advertise with City Pages.

How many of you that don't agree with the outcome actually took time to vote? Honestly, had I known this issues was coming out, I would have been mass emailing and using social media to ask Summit fans to vote for us. We easily have more following than any other brewery in MN. We could have slanted the vote pretty heavily.

Camo sucks. That is not an opinion, that is just a fact. I have nothing but bad things to say about this beer and this brewery. I can't wait until they are gone from the beer landscape of this fine city.

how did camo make this list? seriously, that brew is awful. They must have been a lot of beer in by the time they made it to the camo.

I have heard the Surfside is not bad. I tried the Camo and Dyno, both which i would never try again.

Wouldn't 'easily have more following' resulted in getting more votes? Not trying to pick a fight, just seems like a contradiction is all.
