    Need this!
Does this beer hit disto, or is it brewery only?

I got it at my LBS in Virginia so it has definitely hit distro. It's a candidate for "new to me" beer of the year.

I'll be passing through with family this month ... Nov is my annual Thanksgiving trip to Stowe. Hoping to fit a 3rd VT trip in this year to do more BA social stuff.

    Nice, have fun!

Hopefully I can make it when the BA social stuff happens.

Your post is how I feel also. I love their Trosten but all their other beers have been average for me. I've stayed at the lodge several times and the new beer hall down the hill is spectacular; and you can't beat having some schnitzel with any of their lagers in any of their restaurants. Basically, I love the whole Von Trapp story and what they've done with their beers / brewery, and really need to revisit their beers given this thread because I want to like their core line-up more than I have in the past.

I largely agree with this. My favorite beers by them are beers that there aren't a lot of, so that might explain a lot of why I like them. I love their Vienna, I love Trösten, I love the Natür Helles. I can't say I'm crazy about their other beers like the Pilsner or Helles. Those other beers have been good, not great for me.

I should add that a lot of why I posted about the Natür Helles is because, for the most part, this site (and others) hype up thicc IPAs and milky sugar stouts. Lagers, by in large, don't get their due on this site. Since I enjoyed it and I was sure others would too, I had to give it its due.

I had tried their Bock a while back, from cans bought here in Nashua ... Thought it was solid and decently made. . Alewife and I visited the Brauhaus in May, and we had the Bock vom Fass... was loads better... verrrry tasty.... Prosit!

Been drinking a bunch of their Kölsch in the hot weather these past few weeks. Very good but not as good as I remember it from last year.

Just picked up a 4-pack of this today. Really excited to dive into it while grilling tomorrow.

Anyone hit Oktoberfest up there this weekend?

Already planning to pencil it in for next year.

So I think I've got hop burn out... I've been consuming large amounts of lagers, namely Von Trapp's Natur Helles. What a great beer at a reasonable price. I also really enjoy their Helles Lager, Octoberfest, and Dunkel. A great change of pace.

This is the best time of the year to cure hop burn out.

Mid-August - early October are almost exclusively Oktoberfest season for me.

I do love von trapps oktober, slightly different and little than your average IMO. But to me it makes it all the more drinkable. Drank my first six pack but it came early to NJ this year so I may all be gone now.

Can stretch it to mid-November with a little effort.

Depends, if they're domestic, sure. Imports, not for me.

Some people say the imports taste just fine for them that late in the season. But I've had some imported Oktoberfest on draft that were absolute shells of their former selves...in early October.

Some of these are bottled in March/April, making them 7-8 months old, there's too much good beer out there for me to buy those in November.

I also start as soon as I see them on shelves, so many years that's early August. I roll through 30+ varieties during that time, repeating my favorites and often having both bottle/can and draft of many of them.

I'm burned out by November...and really it's by early to mid October. Same thing probably happens in Germany too...Oktoberfest does end on October 6th this year.

Wasn't Hofbrau bottled in June this year? That's good drinking way past October.

Just in Time for SN Celebration!!

It was I believe. As was Spaten, and Weihenstephan if I recall correctly.

I think Paulaner (both the Wiesn and Marzen) and HP were April. The Ayinger I saw locally was March.

Still, by November, that will be 5 months old, and I've probably drank my fill. I can always grab a local export Helles if I have the urge. And Notch's Festbier should still be plenty fresh too.

Yup, and there's that. I start drinking Celebration in October. I'll also start drinking pumpkin beers finally (not many, but I do like some).

I can then also get back to the 80 billion other beers on the shelves that I have to sift through.

Actually, the Brewers Association projects there will be 90 billion other beers by November.
