If you like lagers, go to Notch. They're my favorite New England brewery.

Grab yourself "The Standard" on draft on their proper Czech draft system.

And after you think you've had too much to drink (everything they brew is 4.5% or less, so probably won't happen), have a proper Mlìko pour. It's a blissful glass of melanoidin foam.

I had a couple of Jack's Abby Modern Hell from Kellerbier series canned in the late October last week and just had a Keller Lager from Von Trapp now. With all my love of Jack's Abby lagers, Keller is in another league of beers. I only wish I tried Keller while still being in Vermont to be able to get more than a sixpack. Easily the best of Von Trapp beers I've ever had.

To be fair, in this style freshness will matter. And while not terribly old, a three month old lager and a fresh lager (I assume Von Trapp's Keller is fresh, it just came out) can be quite different.

Also, they could be different styles. "Kellerbier" isn't a style, it's just an unfiltered/unpasteurized beer.

Modern Hell is an Export Helles, I haven't had Von Trapp's Keller (it's on my list), so I'm not sure what style it is, but it's lower in ABV than Modern Hell at 5% (Modern Hell is 5.9%).

All that being said, it does sound like it's quite good, thanks for the tip!

That is, of course, true, although 10/28 canned beer is two months old not three, which is not that terrible for a larger.

Right, I wasn't trying to compare them directly, but rather meant to use Jack's Abby as a reference, since their keller beers and lagers, in general, are universally considered as great American versions of the German style beers.

Unaware of this thread until now, I had a the Keller at the von Trapp brewery in Stowe yesterday. It was excellent. One of the cleanest beers I’ve had in a while.

Can confirm. Had at the von Trapp bierhall the weekend they put it up. Took a 6 pk home and my dad and brother in law almost went through them all. He picked up a can of Trosten next thinking it was the same beer, but unsurprisingly he really enjoyed that as well.

I’ve been hopeful Keller would show up in southern New Jersey but no luck yet. Hopefully I come across it soon.

    Gotcha.

And yes, two months, well, I guess my New Year’s Resolution is to work on my math skills.

I was told by Von Trapp's official Facebook account owner that Keller will make it to NYC in January/February. Considering that I almost never see any of their cans here, I'm not very hopeful, but NJ usually has all of their offerings, so you might be more lucky.

Nothing in northern NJ yet either. Saw every other offering yesterday on the shelf at the store I was at, including Trösten, but no Keller. I'll post here if I find anything.
