Voodoo Maple Bacon in TC

The beer that tastes like childhood sadness.

 

I don't want to burst your bubble, but this beer doesn't even come close to living up to the hype. You are much better off grabbing a bottle of Surly Smoke and heading over to Yo-Yo Donuts and getting their Maple Bacon donut. In the end you will be much happier.

 

I've also heard the beer isn't that great. I still picked up a bottle and want to try it.

 

Split a bottle three ways last night. Enjoyed it very much. Im going to pick up another bottle tonight as a matter of fact.

 

i know firkins said they had it. where else has it been spotted? the buyer at cellar's roseville said that they wanted a 5-case minimum order on this stuff. i'm not sure how any store (with maybe a few exceptions) could sell through 5 cases.

 

Was contemplating picking up a bottle even though the BA reviews are ho-hum, just to give it a try. What does a bottle run?

 

I got a bottle for $14 at BigTop on Uni. Haven't tried it yet.

 

Just to clarify; I didn't think it sucked, it just wasn't that good. I've had the the donut that is the name sake of this beer, and I will be forever labeled a homer for this statement but... The maple bacon donut at Yo-Yo is soooo much better. The bacon used at Yo-Yo is a thicker, bigger piece. The maple glaze at VooDoo tastes more like Mrs. Butterworth syrup, where Yo-Yo tastes like real maple syrup.

 

We should have more in today at the Firkins (Friday the 23rd) though we are sold out at this minute. We're selling it for $12.99 for those concerned about us being "overpriced."

And I do think it's pretty tasty - in small amounts! Make sure you have some friends to share it with, I can not imagine putting down a whole bomber of it alone.

I've always thought the prices at Firkins were very fair. When I'm in the Cities making my "rounds" picking up the brews I can't get in the Roch, I've gone from the Firkins straight to the MGM next to Whole Foods by Calhoun and easily their prices are $3-5 more for the same brew.

For the Roch BAs, Apollo NW has some. I don't remember of the price though

 

I ordered a bomber from Rogue's website a few months back, it really was an interesting beer but I cannot say I enjoyed it. My mistake was trying to drink the bomber myself. After one glass, I was shot.
