Started in this thread. We have two great options:

    A) Rent a private gallery space on College St. in Burlington. Here's the info on that one:

    OR

    B)
Our friends at Drop in Brewing have generously offered to let us use their class room in their brewery in Middlebury!
Also, Middlebury would be easier for our fellow VT'er from the southwestern part of the state.

    Here's a poll, get voting!

Is anything available in the beer capital of Vermont? Waterbury.

Great bars. Could make an HF run before.

a bit closer for the southern part of the state and off the highway

Maybe fellow BA Alchemist guy would let us hang:grinning:

Not likely, unfortunately. That would be great for me, though. Ruth said in the other thread that they used to do it at the Pig, but now that the Pig does weekend lunch service, that option is no longer available. The Rez also does weekend lunches, plus I don't know how Chad would feel about it anyway. Anyone know what time the Blackback opens on the weekends? I'm usually getting ready to go to work so I havn't really paid attention to their opening times.

I might be down for this, depending on where it is. Would much prefer Waterbury, if that's an option.

Right now the only solid option is Middlebury. Ruth and I have been down this road many times, no one wants the liability. Also, it is a violation for any establishment that has a liquor license since much of the beer is not distributed through VT.

I am going step back and let some else step up to the plate and find a place and pick a date.

No callback from the gallery in Burlington so far, so let's use the poll Frank put up to judge (mostly) how people from outside Chittenden Cty. feel about going to Middlebury. Saw youbrewIdrink in B'ton today and asked him to take over as I will be traveling a lot the next week - he accepted (I thought.)
They used to host us at Alchemist before service started at 3pm, but now lunch is too busy at Pro-Pig to let the space out. Jen K. offered the office at the Cannery, but that was before things got busy as shit there. Too much retail traffic to host a private gathering.

Until I see a poll response we can go on, I'm voting for Middlebury. Please don't throw more ideas out there unless you vet it as a for-real possibility - just makes planning harder & more protracted. Reminder - venue cannot have a liquor license to host us; i.e. no bars anymore - can lose their license.

I can check with the Whetstone Station to see if they would be willing to host an event. Vermonters could take the Vermonter round trip. Not ideal for those on the Western side of the state but a slam dunk for anyone within close proximity to any of the train stations along the line.

Already got the Beer Train running down to Bratt on Nov. 17th, so would like to keep that separate from a meet-up this time around. Looking forward to seeing Whetstone, but more interested in when the brewery will be up & serving. Dead heat on the poll, I see - c'mon people, tell us what you want so we can nail it down!

OK - this may be the clincher. The gallery in downtown Burlington just got back to me, and they want $200. Recall there are some limitations there. Free at Drop-In is nice, and well-equipped. Really hinges on how far people want to drive to the event. Let's close this poll by Thursday and nail it down, OK?

As of today, we are holding the bi-annual Vermont BA Meet-Up at Drop-In Brewery on Sat. Dec. 15th. Owner Steve Parkes says that is a good weekend for him, and it can be something like a holiday gathering too. Will be posted shortly on the events calender with further info. It will be a bottle share with potluck food. The brewery is located just south of Middlebury on Rte. 7, and is also the HQ for American Brewers Guild. Keep an eye on this thread for further detaills re: time, etc. If anyone needs to carpool from Burlington, call Chad at VT Beer Tours to hire his van & driver. Thanks to Steve Parkes for offering the venue, and see you all there!

OK, update finally - Steve at Drop-In says they are a "go" for hosting on Dec 15th. But, now I am wondering if that is just too close to Christmas. They cannot do the 8th, and Zwanze Day is the 1st. I know there will be a lot of work/family parties going on the weekend of the 15th, so maybe we should wait for early January as we have the last couple of years? Please chime in so I can give Steve a solid date. Needs to be a Sat. for Drop-In's convenience. Thanks for hanging in there...

I have a prior drinking engagement on the 15th, so I'm out if that's the date.
