So I am planning on a VT trip March 17th (Thurs) and 18th (Fri). I've been before and camped near Waterbury Reservoir. I loved Waterbury - thought it was a great town, and plan on staying there again for a night or two. First question: any places to stay in Waterbury that is in/within walking distance of the bars and restaurants? I see there is a best western but looks like its a pretty far walk to town. I plan on drinking and dont want to use my car.

As for my beer stops before I settle for the day and enjoy Waterbury:

I plan on leaving Long Island at 4am and heading straight to Hunger Mtn Co-op - what time does the HT delivery usually occur on Thursdays? I didn't go last time I went up to VT.

I plan on heading straight to Warren Store after for Lawson's. Is this plausible? Should I reverse my stops?

I'll prob stop at a few other shops after. Might head back to Montpelier for a stop at Three Penny before heading back to Waterbury for the day.

I'll be doing HF Friday morning.

    Any suggestions/recommendations?

    Thanks all!

Best Western is walkable. I have done it many times. The worst part is the hill to the hotel if it's icy. Old Stagecoach is even closer.

Go for the Lawsons bottles/warren store first. heady is much easier to find. I believe stowe/ Waterbury area gets heady deliveries on Fridays.

IMO the only downside to heady hunting on friday (stowe, morrisville) most stores that get it only offer low limits. Buying a case at hunger mountain is much easier if you are trying to buy a bunch.

Sounds like you already have a pretty good plan and the other replies are spot on. Rock Art opens at 9AM and it's on your way to HF. You may or may not want to stop at Lost Nation for lunch on your way back.

Thursday afternoon is Lawson's drops at Hunger Mountain. Can get Heady in AM, hang around Montpelier, then get Lawson's in one trip. Lunch at Three Penny Taproom. You would have some time to kill, but would save driving time.

I recommend Old Stagecoach for Waterbury stay.

Could probably hit Heady by 8am, head to HF, then back to Hunger Mountain for Lawson's drop on way back to Waterbury. All on Thursday, giving you Friday for Waterbury/Stowe fun.

Depending on how much SoS you want, on Thursdays they get it at Beverage Baron in Barre too. About 10 minute drive from Hunger Mountain coop. Corner Stone Pub in Barre has a good taplist, and HT, FB cans.

Lunch (or even better Brunch) at Kismet in Montpelier! Always gets left out, but my favorite restaurant in Montpelier, or Vermont, or anywhere frankly.

I kid you not, their classic benedict with roasted root vegetables, a coffee and either a heady or focal banger is my death row meal.

Do yourself a solid and head up to Parker Pie (West Glover) after HF for lunch. Stagecoach for breakfast in Waterbury is also hard to beat. Enjoy!

You could probably walk from the new Fairfield Inn in Waterbury to downtown. It's about a mile. Would be a bit of a hike going back because it's uphill but I mean technically it's doable and you'll be feeling pretty good at that point in the night.

    From lawsons website:
Due to recent travels and our upcoming 8th Anniversary event preparations, there is a limited supply of Warren-brewed specialty beer this month. The week of March 3rd you will find Carrier Coffee Maple Imperial Stout (limited bottles for sale at The Warren Store, Hunger Mountain Co-op and Beverage Warehouse).

So there might be a chance that there are no lawsons bottles around towards the end of the month.

Thanks for all the help guys!

I'll take a look at Old Stagecoach. I don't mind walking but prefer to have somewhere close to stumble to.

Ah damn. Well I'll keep an eye out and if there's no Lawsons i'll change my plans.

    This sounds like a plan.

    Again, thanks!

    Cheers.

Haha only looking for info/suggestions to make this more efficient. I've only camped in Vt but not looking to camp in mid March so the hotel recommendations have been helpful! Plus, got some good info on alternatives!

Looks like there will be limited beer at Warren Store this Thursday based on their website. I'm thinking that I will leave here at 3AM to get to Hunger Mt Co-Op by 8:30. Hopefully grab some heady if I get there in a time. How long is the wait there usually? I was thinking of hitting Hill Farmstead after, then heading back to Hunger Mt for Lawsons drop off. Afterwards, probably head to Three Penny for lunch. Is hitting HF after Hunger Mt in the morning and getting back to Hunger Mt for Lawsons do-able? Thanks!

When does Beverage Baron get their SoS drop off usually?
