Just wanted to post about our trip to Vermont. Thanks to all the great information shared on these boards, we had a trip that was fun and stress free, and yes, successful. We did two awesome hikes, and got to try many fine VT beer, and got a trunk full of pure gold to bring home and enjoy.

We started out at 6 am on Wed morning from Poughkeepsie NY, and headed straight up to the Alchemist. We arrived just before opening at 10:45. There was probably 10 to 15 people in line, about half way down the ramp. We only waited about five minutes, and the line started moving. They opened a few minutes early, lucky us! They are extremely organized and friendly there. The line moved quickly, and we each got a growler and a case of Heady. A great start to the trip. We packed our booty in the coolers, and were leaving the parking lot at 11:08 am. We decided to head straight to Hill Farmstead, why not? It was still early enough in the day.

The drive up to HF took an hour for us. A little longer than we thought it would, but we parked and got right in line. It was maybe 12:15, and the line was already solid. We could see about 7 or 8 people ahead of us, but little did we know there were many more inside. It moved very slowly. A guy coming out said the Double Citra was pouring very slowly. At some point, they ended up putting a second tap of it on, and things moved only slightly faster. As we moved closer, and were about four from being served, we got to do our tasters. At this point $5 seemed like a bargain, as we were now parched for beer. We were one and a half hours in. We made it to the taps, and got our Double Citra, Edward, and George, success!

We headed back toward Waterbury, and stopped at Positive Pie for lunch and a beer. It was close to HF, and we enjoyed a pizza and a decent selection of beer. Nice place, nice service at the bar.

We checked into the Best Western in Waterbury. Good location, nice rooms. Got a decent price that included breakfast. If you want to sleep in at all, ask for a room on the non parking lot side. Although the view was nice, the parking lot noise was way annoying.

While in Waterbury, we went to the Reservoir, Prohibition Pig, and Blackback. Had Heady on tap at PP, had Lawson's at the Rez, and Blackback.

Thursday morning we went to the Warren Store, got there at 10 am and by 10:15 we left with 8 bottles of Lawson's Hopzilla.

Hiked the Moss Glenn Falls in Stowe. Great short hike, beautiful falls.

Went into Montpelier, and had lunch at Skinny Pancake, stopped in Three Penny Taproom, and Positive Pie. Taplist at any of these was anticlimactic. Sounds crazy, but true. Couldn't wait to get back to Waterbury and the Blackback. Food at Skinny Pancake was good.

Friday morning we saved for our big hike. Stowe Pinnacle. It was snowing in the morning, so we waited until a little later to go on our hike. We got to the trailhead around 11:30 am. This was the highlight of our trip. The hike was unbelievable. Fun and challenging for us, but with huge rewards when you make it to the top. We got back to our car around 3 pm and were ready for, you guessed it, A BEER. Headed back in to Waterbury to the Blackback, and Reservoir.

A fine getaway, for ultra fine beers and hiking, VT, we will be back.

Great report, interesting three penny taproom's taplist was lacking. The times I've been there it has rivaled anywhere else's in VT.

Not lacking, just light on the VT IPA/Pale Ale/DIPA beers that we were seeking.

Nice report sounds like a great trip. At some point I think you may have said positive pie when you meant parker pie?

Positive Pie in Hardwick (on the way back to Waterbury). Heard good things about Parker Pie though.

Funny I didn't realize there were two, and I concur that parker pie is great, but I haven't been to positive pie yet.
