I know this is a bit of an odd question to ask in a beer forum, but figured I'd ask some locals with similar taste to me.

Wife and I are tossing the idea of a vacation home/airbnb home out in the Vermont area. We stayed in Stowe for a week last year and loved it. Thought that might be one of the ideal areas to hit on since its close to beer and has several attractions in the area (skiing, hiking, Ben&Jerrys). I know Burlington has a bit more as far as food/bar scene, but our trips would be more for outdoor getaways/vacations with beer being an extra plus.

Any thoughts on other spots in the area besides Stowe?

Look at the Mad River Valley also. Waitsfield and Warren. Great beer, skiing, and everything for the outdoor enthusiast.

+1 for the Sugarbush area (Waitsfield/Warren). We've been there in the winter for awesome skiing and fall for fantastic hiking. That doesn't even begin to talk about food and beer...

If you're looking for the skiing and beer accessability, basically anything north of Montpelier would work - it's further from Killington and such, but with Stowe, Smuggler's Notch, Bolton, Mad River, Jay Peak up near Canada, and so forth, you have plenty of great skiing available. Don't think I need to talk about beer, do I?

There are a number of rental properties in the Islands (South Hero, North Hero & Grand Isle) less than an hour to Burlington. Not much as far as "attractions" but nice back roads to bike on, slower pace of life, nice State Parks.

Do what I do. Get a good friend to move to Montpelier and crash at his place anytime for free.

No one else is becoming that friend. I think I have to stepup.
