I'm going to be in Wakefield for several months for work. Are there any good bars or restaurants in Wakefield or the surrounding towns?

    Thanks.

I see a lot of trips into Boston to hit the great places while you are here. For public transportation check out the Commuter Rail, or Oak Grove Station on the Orange Line.

For a beer store, check out Redstone Liquors (Stoneham). Also, a bit further away, Craft Beer Cellar (Belmont).
As for beer bars, looks like you'll be heading into Cambridge or Boston. Easy to do by public trans as stated by geocool. Welcome to the neighborhood!

The closest bar with craft beer is Grumpy Doyle's in Reading. Not a ton of esoteric offerings, but yesterday's highlights on tap were Nugget Nectar, Boulevard Tank 7, Maine Beer Peeper, Lagunitas IPA & Wachusett Larry.

Wakefield is in a good location to get into Boston or visit the North Shore. From Rt. 93 you can get to the Tap brewpub in Haverhill or the Alehouse in Amesbury. Going north on Rt 128 you can get to the Salem Beer Works or Cape Ann Brewery. South on Rt. 93 will bring you into Boston and Cambridge in about 15 minutes. Of course it would probably be better to go to the Orange line subway station to avoid the high cost of parking in the city.

You are going to be five minutes away from Sea Dog Brew House in Woburn. They have 30 Craft beers from Sea Dog Brewing and at least 10 other breweries rotating it seems. The atmosphere is great for someone traveling as I'm up in that area for business all the time. The food is also real good for a brew pub.
