Wander recently added some new fermenters, and have gotten some new space for barrel storage. Here's a quick excerpt from today's paper: WANDER BREWING EXPANDS Bellingham’s Wander Brewing recently completed an expansion that has doubled its capacity. The addition of larger fermentation tanks will allow the brewery to produce up to 3,000 barrels of beer a year, up from a previous capacity of 1,500 barrels, said co-owner Chad Kuehl. Last year Wander produced around 1,200 barrels. The company also has added 2,000 square feet of space, which will help with storage of its Wander Brewing Barrel Project, which is scheduled to have its first bottle release at the end of the month. The project involves brewing beers in wine barrels. The expanded capacity will allow the brewery to try out new recipes while still producing its core beers at a higher frequency. Currently Wander has about 100 accounts from Ferndale to Seattle and will try to add new accounts as a result of the expansion. Wander Brewing also is coming up on its first anniversary on Saturday, May 2. Kuehl said the support they’ve received in the first 10 months has been great, and the craft beer industry is thriving in Bellingham. “The community has been amazingly supportive of all the local breweries,” he said. Wander Brewing is at 1807 Dean Ave. For details, visit wanderbrewing.com. Read more here: http://www.bellinghamherald.com/201...psheet-oyster-company.html?rh=1#storylink=cpy
Glad to hear of their success, want to try more of their stuff. Hope Global Mutt found its way into some of those wine barrels.
They've got a bunch of different stuff, in a bunch of different barrels already, so I'd guess that odds are pretty good. I'll ask next time I'm in.
And, I forgot to ask when I was in there yesterday. Another space in the complex they're in is coming available soon, and they're thinking about grabbing it.
On a recent trip to the Wal-Mart of alcohol, I grabbed a can of Worthy's IPA, mainly because the W name fooled my inaccurate brain into thinking it was a 'hammster beer. I had other fish to fry while there, so I didn't examine it as closely as I should have. I was a little bummed it turned out to be a beer from a Bend brewery that was contract brewed in Bellevue.
Well, two examples of actual Wander beer should be denting your porch today, so that'll even things out for ya.
And I just cut this from a FB post: The latest in our On the Spot series, AAA IPA, goes on draft at the Brew Hall today. Azacca, Amarillo, and Ahtanum hops! 6.4% ABV // 68 IBU // 8 SRM
