I've got a couple of these on hold at a liquor store (Evan Williams, Elijah Craig 12), however at $30 per bottle I have to ask if you think the product is worth the cost. While I know the answer to this is 100% subjective I'm just wondering if you've been impressed with these enough to warrant buying them in the future.

    Thanks for your opinions!

No, I think they are good, not great. I won't buy them in the future.

Totally not worth it when most the time these brews cost almost as much as the bourbon they are aged in. I've tried almost all them from last year and it got to the point where you could barely tell them apart.

The Elijah Craig one is nice. Haven't tried the Evan Williams. But I don't think they're worth $30/beer. Not at all.

I know that this is an unpopular/overused response around here, but I think the 2009-2010 versions were a cut above the stuff that was released this year. That said, they are still good beers (ignoring the price), and the Evan Williams is my favorite out of the 2012s so far.

    Great beers at terrible prices.

    What he said!

I haven't had many of them but what I had was damn delicious. (Could easily drink the bomber to myself) but the price stopped me from buying more.

I've tried four varieties of various years, and, as others have said, I agree that they are not worth the price.

    Any BCBS Variety > Ecplise
    Ivan > Eclipse
    Parabola > Eclipse
    KBS > Ecplise

And on and on, IMHO. And the prices are generally lower than Eclipse, too. Eclipse BA stouts have the cool thing going on w/ the different whiskey brands and wax colors, but it's just a gimmick to try to get people to buck up and try them all.

But, as MordorMongo said, if you have $$$ to burn...

Are people really buying these? If they are still on the shelf that has to be a sign. All the feedback is helpful. I don't have money to burn so may just get one to share with my group of regulars and call it a day.

Well worth it at the futures price. Would probably only buy one at the shelf price.

I think it's worth shelling out to try a bottle once, and then making up your own mind.

The only two that are worth $20 a bottle are the Elijah Craig 12 and 18. $30 is ridiculous but its what they go for.

I got a few of each via futures this year, have already had each one to try. The Rebel Yell had hardly any barrel at all, it was just OK. The rest I have really enjoyed..especially the Old Ftiz, Elijah Craig and Rye versions. The Rye version is fantastic if you ask me, it's a sweet base stout and it works great with the Rye. At Futures prices (like $22 each) I wouldn't hesitate to buy them. I'll probably get more this year too. An awesome trading partner sent me a coffee Eclipse, can't wait to try that.

I do not think I'd gladly pay $30 or $35 for a bottle, which is what I've seen in stores.

After seeing this, decided to open a Black Wax version of the latest release (Evan Williams?) It's awesome...like bourbon-ey dark chocolate.

Agreed. I thought the Evan Williams was even better than the EC this year.

Still not worth $30, but a damn good beer.

I thought they were pretty good, but at more than double the price of Parabola I'll pass

I had the full 2011 lineup and none were amazing. Not worth price of admission.

i'd probably only buy the EC treatment at this point. however, i had the EW as well this year and it was delicious, so just depends on how much extra money you have to burn.

Our mileage varied. I thought the 2010s (and even the 2009 EC & HH) were fairly mediocre and was thrilled to offload a set of 2010s in an IP trade.
