Click on the select box to the left of the beer on your gots list. Go to the bottom & hit the "Trade" button. These will then show up at FT = Y on the right. Theoretically this was to denote what beers were for trade vs. people just keeping track of what they had, I believe. Either way, I don't believe it gets used much.
In your gots list you can check off the beers then select trade or remove on the bottom of the list. I previously had a decent amount listed as FT and would sometimes get messages requesting a trade.
Yeah, that's my opinion also, but I don't have a ton of stuff I keep in my gots that I want to trade. If I had a surplus and wanted to keep track of them, it could be helpful, I guess.
Yeah, can't have one without the other. If everyone kept both up to date it would probably be a pretty good resource, but that will probably never happen. I do like keeping my wants up to date, as they seem to turn up as awesome trade extras! Cheers!
Gots/FT's seem to be rarely used, but wants are always good to keep updated. As @jhavs said, great for knowing what extras can be a hit, plus for BIF's it's a good way for your sender to know what you're interested in.
If you want to be an active trader, it's always good to keep your FT list updated. I get emails all of the time from people looking to trade for beers on my FT list just by them visiting the beer profile and seeing that I have them for trade.
That was the reason I took the FT tag off of my gots and stopped keeping my gots so updated. I kept getting extremely low ball offers. Now I just leave the easy to get, or I have a bunch of brews on there. I do always update my Wants list though.
I wish more people would keep those lists updated... I've had some luck in the past with solid trades from people who either search to see that I had something FT or vise versa - going through the FT:ISO forum - things get hairy because there is so much traffic.
I started doing it. then stopped. It was just too much of a pain in the butt to keep it updated. I don't trade a ton, but i just can't keep up with it. This carries over into why I don't rate beers on here (also tried it, didn't like it) and prefer to do it on untappd.
