Bought this the other day and tried it for the first time. To me it tasted like when a ipa starts to or goes bad. It just had that certain taste to it that they all get when you wait to long to drink them. I have only been into craft beer for about a year but the one thing I noticed is no matter what brewery the beer is from they all pretty much get them same taste when waiting too long to drink. I no this was not all the old but still...... Anyways am I the only one that noticed this or is it just me? Based on the bottle I drsnk I would not buy it again.
I did find war mullet to taste kind of different the first time it was released, but as new batches have come out I feel like they kind of dialed it in and it was tasting better than ever. That said, I haven't had the last batch, so my opinion is somewhat moot.
I had the first batch and didn't care for it. I got it fresh from the brewery so I know it wasn't mishandled or old or anything. Haven't tried the newest batch, so I don't know if they've made any tweaks. It may just be that it doesn't agree with your palate. It's certainly well-regarded.
I only tried it when it first came out, but I was not impressed. Not even close to the same level as Panzer or Dreadnought.
I picked up a bottle yesterday and tried it with same feeling as OP, no date and tasted old. Won't be grabbing this again!
