Suggestions for breweries, beer happenings and bottle shops? It's a family vacation, so distance is a big issue as nobody except me wants to spend a ton of time in the car chasing beer.
There's a decent brewery in Schroon Lake called Paradox. It's really small and not somewhere you'd spend alot of time at, but they do growler fills. Nothing from them has blown me away, but everything is solid and Schroon Lake isn't a bad place to hang out during the day Also the Lake Placid brewery makes good beer and has a cool atmosphere right across from Mirror Lake in downtown. Could be another good day trip up there that wouldn't be entirely beer focused Davidson's brew pub is right down in Glens Falls. I haven't been there in a real long time though
I like Adirondack Pub and Brewery in Lk George. Nice outdoor deck for dining. Decent beers, pub food, family friendly. Davidson's also has a production brewery with a tasting room on Rt. 9 in Queensbury, though it's really a tourist spot/gift shop.
Common Roots Brewing Company in South Glens Falls is brewing the highest quality, most interesting stuff in that area. Skip Davidson's altogether. For bottle shops, EBI in Saratoga is probably the closest beverage center with a big selection.
Ok, next week is the trip. A friend checked out Paradox last week and wasn't too impressed, so it may have dropped from contention. Extra bonus, my brother in law is driving from Illinois and bringing Midwest treats with him.
Paradox is kind of blah. Defiantly hit up Common Roots. Adirondack Brewing makes select good beers, thats in Lake George
I'll give it a whirl. I see you posted in the CT SoS forum, you work at Caraluzzi's? I live in Bethel.
Yes I do. I also live in Bethel. My friends and I have been going to Pottersville NY for 40+ years. Warrensburg is just a couple of exits before us. Nice town.
First time for us to Warrensburg. Stayed on Paradox Lake about 20 years ago, but that's it for visiting the region.
