Big props to Spokane Valley newcomer The Hidden Mother, which took both gold and silver in experimental beers today for Pine Tree Peppercorn Saison (which is run through an actual hollowed-out log during brewing) and Morel Mushroom Red. Also gold for Iron Goat (Brown), silver for No-Li (Born & Raised IPA) and bronze for River City (Colonel Crusher barleywine). And the Ten Pin folks over in Moses Lake didn't do too bad, either, with five medals of their own.

Well, consider me ISO of bale breaker’s wood and wire imperial stout (I love dormancy, this would be hard to beat) and white bluff’s fans in denial IPA (love NOG, bluff diver is just all right).

Remember, @Babbo , lots of people east of the Cascades consider themselves eastern Washingtonians.

Just divide it up by which "WU" is closest: E, C, or, W.

I think it's more a cultural than geographic divide.

I thought Bluff Diver was okay first time I tried it but it never blew me away, plus it seemed inconsistent, whereas I can happily force myself to drink NOG pretty much any time.

The Hidden Mother beers are worth checking out if any of you ever run across them. Mike wants to establish a West Side presence, he was hoping the festival would get him some attention and I think he might have succeeded.

So far I've only managed to have his smoked porter, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
