https://www.brewbound.com/news/wawa...wing-company-and-launches-2019-2020-brew-tour This was a huge hit for them last year. Now expanded to the other states where Wawa's exist.
How come I don't think I'm going to see any in WAWAs in their home state of PA? Maybe one or two that have beer licences, but none anywhere near me. BTW, I have six WAWAs within 5-6 minutes of me. I'm in a WAWA wonderland, but I'll never see this, or any other, beer.
I feel your pain, I live in Jersey, no beer sales anywhere but a liquor store. They said in the article that the beers will be distributed to retailers this year. I believe they said starting on the 9th.
Do they only sell the beers at Wawa's? That's not the case with the Dunkin Donuts/Harpoon beers. There are still towns (it's based on municipal ordinance, not the state law) that allow other sorts of retailers - mostly grocery and drug stores - to hold licenses.
- Wow, really? Do you know of any? I've lived in Jersey almost my entire life and haven't seen beer or alcohol sold in any grocery stores or pharmacies. Unless you count Shoprite Liquors, located next to the grocery store.
Currently, there are Trader Joe's and Wegmans* that sell beer on the grocery floor, same registers as food, in West Windsor on US Rt. 1 outside of Princeton. I believe there's another TJ in north Jersey with a license, too. And there are a few Big Box club stores with licenses, too. *Not talking about the attached but separate sorts of liquor departments, with their own registers and lockable doors. (NJ law limits off-premise licenses to two per owner. The grocery store-branded chains - like most Wegmans - get around it by having the licenses in other names.) A former Drug Fair, now a Rite Aid, in Highland Park sells beer, wine and liquor. (Do a Google Search for it, and you can read the reviews on Google many of which mention the alcohol sales, w/photos.) Used to be another indie drug store up around Elizabeth with a license, too, and a small Foodtown grocery store in East Brunswick (now gone). Whenever the topic comes up, other NJer's report a few other outliers.
ShopRite in Cinnaminson allows you to buy beer at the regular grocery check-out areas (designated registers with cashiers that are 21+). The other booze-friendly ShopRite in Cherry Hill is more like one of those “store within a store” designs with its own dedicated cashier.
