I can't really drink the Newburyport anymore myself 'cause it's just too sweetly malty and caustic for my palate these days. I used to love that sort of thing and Greenhead reminded me a lot of Ska's Modus Hoperandi which was a favorite when I lived in the midwest. I'm glad it still has an audience though.

I never really thought of Santilli as one either but everyone else seems to, so I figured I'd include it. Honestly I don't know what I would consider it to be - I've always thought it tasted sort of strange and have never been a fan.

porters- mayflower and exhibit A briefcase are both very good
lagers- You probably tried when in VT but trapps consistently puts out great lagers
Not sure if it gets to mass but Lawsons new Little sip is nice clean ipa.

Great North Aleworks IPA is my go to WCIPA when I can find it fresh. 6-pack 12oz format is nice too.

Ha! I haven’t had it. I love chinook normally but I remember them announcing it and being bummed I didn’t seek it out. It has good overall reviews, so who knows.

Double Sunshine or Hopzilla? Those two are more WCIPA than anything mentioned thus far.

Always heard good things about Mayflower Porter. Can't wait to try it.

We get Von Trapp here and I haven't had a beer from them I didn't really enjoy. The brewery was pretty awesome as well. Beautiful setting. And I also agree on Lil Sip. I enjoy it much more than Sip of Sunshine. Thanks!

    Ha, I sure do...

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the likes of Jack’s Abby’s Keller Series (I imagine you may have had their regular rotation), Notch (seek out their Single Series and their side project Voll Projekt), and Schilling.

That’s a shame. It was one of the first IPAs I ever had and when I first had it I immediately thought, “Wow, these IPA things are really fucking good”. Straight up grapefruit bomb that night.

It won a bronze medal at the World Beer Cup in 2016 for “American Style IPA”, whatever the hell that meant 4 years ago.

On the shelves right now, I’d put Chinooker’d from Lawsons in the solid West Coast bucket.

Loved that one when I visited Vermont. Was in my top 4 along with Fiddlehead, Focal Banger, and Lil Sip.

Don't worry. I'll be seeking out the local lagers whenever I show up. I've been in this craft beer thing for over 20 years and have explored any and all types of beer I could find, but over the past few years I find myself yearning for a well made lager, a quality Porter, or a simple old-school IPA more and more.

If you're moving to Boston proper then you wont be far from Cambridge Brewing brewpub. For my tastes they make the best straight classic porter.

Funny enough, they apparently just released it in cans today. I had no clue, honest. Maybe I'll check it out on Friday once the snow gets cleared.

CBC is the best brewpub in New England. Old school with good food (try the buffalo tenders, best anywhere) and a mix of classic pub beers and more experimental stuff. But the experimental stuff is more like barrel aged english mild with earl grey tea at 3% ABV. It's OG beer nerd stuff.

Never thought that I'd have big time nostalgia for a style that I was so, so burnt out on ten years ago, but here we are.

Big Iron makes a couple tasty ones:

Cambridge Brewing sounds like my kind of place.

Still looking at real estate but we will likely end up a bit outside of downtown, but no more than 15 miles out. The Mrs will need to get downtown for work so we don’t want the commute to be too far.

CBC is wonderful - you’ll like it. And as mentioned, their Flower Child is a fine WCIPA. Four packs and six packs available around metro Boston. Just check your can dates. It’s great for a couple of months once canned and I’ve enjoyed plenty of cans nearing 3 months old. I like to buy it directly from the brewery where it’s kept cold in the beer fridge.

They make some solid traditional styles. Haven't loved their NEIPAs but everything else I've had very enjoyable. They expanded their taproom too, no longer that little hole in the wall. Once covid passes it will be a great spot to hang out at. I for one look forward to being able to order some Wendells and sit out in their beer garden again
