Im fairly new to BA but not new to beer. We recently received Troegs to CT. I've bought and tried a few of their releases and have been left disappointed. We can hope for more of those highly praised brews to come our way and be let down. Too bad the best beers around here are not in our stores. You have to visit the breweries. For example New England, Tree House, Trillium, Night Shift, and your favorite I left out. I'm going to learn from the latest Troeg's release that there is much to be enjoyed locally.
For example I recently opened a Night Shift Whirlpool at an arm's length and smelled the hops. When I stuck my nose into a freshly poured Nugget Nectar I smelled dirty glass tap line sort of smell.
You are correct that there are a lot of great options locally in New England, however, completely disagree with your assessment of Nugget Nectar. I had fresh Nugget Nectar for the first time over the weekend and found it highly enjoyable and extremely well-balanced. More options the better, IMO.
