I'll admit it. I drove a pretty distance with only a sheer hope in hell a.said beer existed. What has been the farthest you've driven clear out of your way to find a beer? Either on tap or in package.

Curious to see what others went great distances to get their beer.

So far for me it's been about 2hr30 min drive. Went from LA to San Diego just for three six packs of "33" Beer. So what. It's a good beer.

Short and more accurate answer: zero miles

Longer and sort of accurate answer: one time when I had a long layover in Denver, I rented a car, went to the liquor store, and sent myself a beer package back to Pittsburgh.

Hmmm, I guess either driving from Stowe to HF (45min) while on vacation or from Stowe to some little country store that was about 45 min south to get some SoS that was delivered. Either time it was on my vacation, so it was paradise driving around in Vermont and living a stress free existence for at least 1 week.

300 miles. 5.5 hours each way. North Jersey to Portland, ME. Also same approx distance in another beer run to Burlington, VT. Well worth it!

I'd probably drive to Columbus to get Hoof Hearted if it was on the agenda (like going up there anyway) And it's about 100 miles away from where I live.

I wouldn't make a trip over to Iowa to get Pseudosue or anything crazy like that. I try to stay within distro because Ohio (where I buy my beer) gets really good stuff to begin with.

I have no doubt in my mind that Hoof Hearted will be available in SE Ohio soon enough because Rhinegeist and Mad Tree became available last year, and Columbus Brewing just started distro over here a few months ago. Toppling Goliath will probably not be in Ohio for a few years tho...

Not specifically for beer, really, but I am always willing to go 20-30 minutes out of my way if I'm already going somewhere else - for beer or even certain foods.

Salt lake City to Vegas 421mi each way. Left my house at 5:30 on a Monday night. Got to Mesquite at 10:30, scored a 26$ casino hotel room and proceeded to lose $50 playing video poker...At least I got 2 free beers while playing : / Got up at 6:00 and drove the final hr to Vegas then a straight shot home.

My main objective was Parabola but I got plenty of other goodies while I was there. The trip was WELL worth it and I'm sure I'll do it again in the near future.

Likewise TangoRoad, rarely more than 20 miles hence 30 minutes a drive. There are some breweries around, but over priced and not so good. Usually I drive to my go-to beer store selling Belgians.

Though not really in the OP question, I have driven more than once in the middle of the night to go fetch a pack. This wild youth seem long gone.

I fairly regularly go 30 minutes to an hour out of the way when traveling. If I'm already within an hour of something 6 hours away from where I live that I want to check out I'm not going to let an extra hour stop me.

That is funny....BBB gets more distro than I thought. I was in east lansing eating dinner at some steakhouse craving a nice Stout and their only option was BBB, which was great as that is probably my favorite beer, but it would have been nice try something local!

Founders is about 2.5 hours from me. KBS tickets are well worth it. I like the travel aspect of craft beer honestly too. It's why I don't trade very much. It gives me an excuse to go to different breweries, cities and states I normally wouldn't go too.

I live south of Nashville currently, and I've absolutely drove up an hour and a half to Kentucky just to get some Great Lakes.

In North NJ it can take a long time to go a short way. I did not drive but went with 2 other BA's to Wet Ticket in Rahway a new brewery. It's only 13/14 miles away but no matter how you go it will take 35 /45 minutes to drive there. The beer was good but that's longer then i like to spend driving to buy or drink beer.

It was on my first attempt to get some Pliny. I was on a driving trip to Oregon 5-6 years ago on I-80, and I knew from postings in the regional forum here that some stores in Colorado had received some Pliny. I think it was Ft. Collins that I detoured to and was able to get 4 bottles. I think it was around 40 miles each way. It was well worth it!
