I drove from Indianapolis to Cincinnati to pick up Beer Camp Across the World rather than wait for it to drop in Indianapolis. Google maps says that's about 200 miles and 4 hours round trip.

I was going there for other reasons, but I drove from my home in central Minnesota to Coralville Iowa - a 6 hour drive - and got beer there. I wouldn't have done it if I didn't have other reasons to go there.

For a specific beer run, around 2 hours, to go to Montgomery Brewing, to get beer there on the first Sunday microbreweriews were able to sell beer, at the first one that was able to sell. See my avitar for the picture of that day.

EDIT - I just remembered, I drove 2 and a half hours, to Dallas Wisconsin, to visit Valkyrie Brewing.

Driving back to Iowa from Vegas, I rerouted to Cheyenne from Denver in order to find a Wyoming-brewed beer. Never a dull moment in the life of a ticker.

My girlfriend and I drove her late 60s model (higher end) VW Camper from Greensboro, N.C. to Dallas, Texas , and back ,to pick up 50 cases of Coors. It was (I believe) 1975. Coors had tons of mystique then and we were getting ready for a big party, wanted an adventure, had plenty of time and she had plenty of money. This was before Burt Reynolds/Smokey and the Bandit. We had a blast and a big party. We had a number of big adventures.

I'm sorry. How long ago was this? I remember driving up to Cheyenne from Denver years ago. I think the only thing up there was a Snake River brewpub. There looks to be a little more than that these days. A little.

The one in Lansing. Great store. Nothing like going into a really nice out of state shop. I had to stop myself from spending hundreds when I was in Columbus last week.

It was only a couple of weeks ago. The one I managed to get was Snake River Snow King. I didn't know until after I tried several gas stations and mini-marts that those retailers apparently aren't allowed to sell beer within the city of Cheyenne. You have to go to a liquor store to get it. I made it to Town & Country Supermarket Liquors about ten minutes before closing. The beer selection was quite extensive. I finally found the Wyoming brews with about two minutes to spare and picked a six-pack at random.

Now the only states I have left to tick are North Dakota, Arkansas, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. That should provide some opportunity for more insanity. Stay tuned!

There have been three year vertical tastings of Madagascar (a stout I very much want to try) about 30 minutes from my door. I passed, figuring it would end up consuming my entire Saturday, and that I'd have to find a ride back.

I don't care much to go out of my way. I'm busy with work, training, and friends, so I tend to pick up brews at one of my favorite stores and move on All of which are conveniently located on my weekly drives around town

Quick Edit: Wait, I have gone out of my way once. It was when I visited Chicago. I had duties from around 6 AM to 10 PM every day (sometimes later), but was able to explore the city for about 3 hours one day. I walked a mile in the rain to buy beer at Benny's to mule back to Missouri, and then walked a mile back to hide my stash in the hotel before returning to the event.

45 minutes south of where I live to Bristol Beverage (VT) for BCBS so I wouldn't have to stand in line at Winooski Beveage for it.

Last Saturday, I drove over four hours to go to two specific liquor stores to look for a couple of dozen different beers that are not in distribution here. I came away with about $250 worth of beer. I landed some Epic beers, literally and figuratively; Epic Even More Jesus, Biscotti Break and Doughnut Break. Also Speedway Stout, Xocoveza, Skull Splitter, Deus, Yeti, World Wide Stout, Chocolate Sombrero, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, Uncle Jacob's Stout, Commodore, and some beer for friends; New Glarus Moon Man and Spotted Cow, and Central Waters HHG. One of my specific goals was to buy representatives of any of the seven BA recognized styles I need to obtain. I found two of seven, and it turns out I had unwittingly had one of those styles two weeks before by having a random tap.

Hmmm... couple of ways to take this:
Specifically for a beer, then return: DC Brau, OTWOA, about 15 miles, tops.

    Specifically for a beer, sorta:
To Akron for Wulver, though it was part of a beercation and we hit a few breweries in the area. However, the driving reason we headed there was that is where Wulver was.

Specifically for a beer, sorta, not really:
Happened to grab a BCBS in Williamsburg on a Black Friday, but we were down there anyhow for holiday. We hit bottle shops locally with no success, and hit the Williamsburg place for standard provisions... but maybe a BCBS.

We have a nice distribution in DC area, and that is something I am thankful for.

I live in the Great New England Beer Desert of SW New Hampshire so, if I want great beer, I can get it but I'm going to have to drive for a while.

In forty-five minutes I can be at Brick & Feather or, in an hour, at River Roost. Other than those, in two to two and a half hours, I can get to anywhere from Boston, Monson, Stowe, Burlington, Greensboro or to Portland. Which I do, almost every week, especially in the summertime.

Fortunately, the dog loves long car rides.

I'm repeating myself here but the 20 minute drive to Cantillon or the 5 minute drive to 3F sure is long...Not to mention the 30 minute drive to Hill from my summer place

For my 40th b-day last year, My wife and I flew one way from Chicago to Boston. We rented a car. We drove from Boston to Stowe, then back home via Montreal and Toronto. I came back with 15 cases of Trillium, Alchemist, and Sip.

My favorite store to buy beer, State Line Liquors in Elkton, MD, is about a 70 minute drive from here.I make that journey once every 3 or 4 months. I'm not in search of any particular beer, but am blown away by their selection.

While I lived in Salt Lake City, I drove to Evanston Wyoming several times just for a wider beer selection (because Utah was a beer wasteland). Over 80 miles each way. If you seen the movie SLC Punk, you know what I'm talking about.
