We have a Bad Traders section, what about a "World Class" traders section?

Was just thinking it would be cool to give a shout out to folks who go above and beyond, or just make your day when trading with someone. I've had the pleasure of trading with some stellar folks on here. I would love to put them on "blast" with some positivity.

I've been trading off and on for 7-8 years. Met some great people -- and more recently have focussed on a few folks that I do lots of repeats with. But.. man is it an expensive hobby! Even shipping via USPS one rate - it still costs $20 to send beers from point A to B not to mention packaging material etc. Additionally - availability of great beers locally just continues to grow and expand. Who would have ever thought Zombie Dust and Kings Sue would essentially become shelf turds in New England? Crazy, Trading as a whole must be way down from prior highs. Whoever makes your proposed list will undoubtedly be a wealthy person in addition to being a volume trader - generous/timely etc.

Considereing the alternative, which is missing out on great beers that don't get distro in my area, 20 bucks ain't shit compared to stuff like Tavour and whatever else is out there.
I don't agree with it being expensive considering you can get stuff you would overwide have to fly out for.
    Now onto thread topic.

What constitutes a world class trader?
To me that is eveyone with a 100 rating and thats too easy to get.
Is it someone that sends " whales" as extras? Communication? Shipping time?

There's a review system where you can read feedback which is what you want.

This is more of a way to send a "shout out" to someone who made your day. I'm not saying they need a special badge, it's a way to call someone out when they did something awesome.

I would say that including good extras (not necessarily whales), timely shipping, good communication, and adequate packaging all go in to being a world class trader.

That's been everyone i have traded with and i hope they feel the same way about me, but all those things except extras are a requirement or at least should be.
The only problem that i see happening is that it would be a waste of server space.
    For example :
Thread : shoutout " Insert BA name"
Post: world class guy , timely shipping and we communicated so much and hes cool! I love everything cant wait to trade with him.

The guy hes traded with replying : its all true! Thanks man i loved our trade yadda yadda

Thats prolly gonna be the end followed with maybe 2 or 3 other people theyve traded with agreeing then its a dead thread.

I dont think its needed and see it as a waste of time and space. All i have to do to see if i wanna trade with someone is 2 things. 1: click on their screen Name 2: check feedback

So much easier and painless , but i like that your heart is in the right place

It's just an idea. Yes, majority of my 200+ trades have gone perfectly to text. This proposed folder is not for things like that.

Has anyone ever sent you a surprise package? Has anyone ever taken a 2hr detour to get you a desired want? Received a KBBS as an extra? These would be reasons to open a thread in the "World Class Traders" folder. There's a lot of negativity in the world and trading on BA is at an all time low (maybe not just being dramatic). What's wrong with spreading some cheer and positivity?

The answer to your question : no to all of them and it's at an all time low because people are trading shit for money or bouron( theres a thread on it)

Let's just turn this into a shoutout thread

I proposed a “User Awards” type of recognition ceremony for awesome BA contributors last week or so. One of the categories I mentioned was traders. It was met with little to negative feedback from the BA community as a whole. I know the trading community is a lot more humble so there might be some leeway on this side. I know @Todd is already aware of the categories I mentioned but maybe it’s worth tagging him again. Cheers.

While I generally agree with what you are saying, you would be surprised with the number of trades I have had that were good overall but lacked in one or more of these categories. Not enough for me to consider it a bad trade, but just enough that there is room for improvement.

As with all things, there is a difference between someone that does what it expected and someone that goes the extra mile...

I don't think that a separate forum is needed for this, with the Bad Trader forum being specifically designed to warn users about bad traders and weed them out.

But please feel free to open a thread on the regular trade forums!

I briefly considered this myself. Are these poor souls bound to get an outpouring of trade requests and messages based upon their noteworthy status as “World Class” traders? I’d like to think a little more of us as a community. Cheers.

I don’t trade much at all anymore. It’s way too expensive. So by all means ignore my perspective here, but I actually think recognizing great traders publicly is a bad idea. It puts pressure on them to achieve that level every time they trade. Also, in times where I have been very generous to someone, I didn’t want public recognition for it. The kind gesture was for that person alone and I didn’t want nor need the entire community to know about it.

I love that the op wants to spread some positive vibes. Kudos to them! I just don’t think this is the way to do it. I think the best way to spread the positive vibes would be for recipients of generous traders to volunteer to send a complete strangers on BA a special beer. Keep an eye peeled on the forums and when you see someone write something like “I wish I could try (insert beer), but it doesn’t come to my area” and if the beer in question comes to your area, then you could send that person a nice surprise. Positive vibes spread, good beer shared, etc.

I'd like to think more of us as well, however people in general tend towards being shitheads. My first trade was a complete shit show. I wound up with some old beers and mostly beers we hadn't discussed.
But I digress. I'd be afraid of some of the lurkers in the trade forums using the info to target generous traders.

$20 shipping for a trade within the US sounds about nice. Try this with someone over the pond and you can multiply that by five, not to mention the beers the generous American traders send us Euros…

Yeah, that sound like a good idea in principle, but would quickly overrun those known as « very generous » traders with requests and wants etc.

Our very first trades might have been a mess, which thinking of it just like our beer reviews.

With some experience trading and reviewing, it’s all practice and we improve.
