I opened BA in my phone browser earlier today and got a pop-up request to install the app, which I did. It isn't showing up in the Play Store. It appears functionally identical to the browser version. Did I miss the memo? I tried to search the forums for a reference, but "app" isn't a valid search term.

Apologies if this has been discussed already.

I am not sure I am ready to go back to an app now. I've gotten used to not having it....

No, we don't have an app now.

I just added support that makes adding the site to your home screen (or dock) a bit easier. It's essentially a bookmark for the site, but without the browser interface so it feels a bit app-like.

    That's it.

No wonder it appears functionally identical to the browser version. :grinning:

    Thx!

Update: I disabled the manifest.json file to avoid any further confusion, plus I'm not happy with the performance in standalone mode (feels slower, removes the ability to easily refresh on mobile, etc). You can still add the site (any site) to your homescreen or dock (macOS), but it's just a bookmark that opens in your browser.

If you previously added it, I recommend deleting it and then adding it again to ensure that your not stuck in standalone mode (fullscreen with no browser controls).

I'll revisit post-forum upgrade, which should give us better web app support.

    More on that later...

    Thanks.

PS - On say iOS, just delete the bookmark from your homescreen. On macOS, quit, remove from dock, and then go to HD > Users > your user > Applications > and delete the BeerAdvocate "app" to remove the prompt to "open the web app" in Safari.
