    Hey all,
I'm getting married this September. My fiance and I are planning on placing a few bottles of beer on each table to supplement wine due to my hobby. Have any of you guys either done this before or have suggestions for a few good wedding beers? We're looking at having two different types at each table, and they would have to be bombers or 750ml bottles. And please don't suggest anything too farfetched, I don't see myself acquiring 15 bottles of King Henry to let people who don't understand craft beer try out haha.

Hello. The closest thing I know of is a friend of mine 'snuck' in a few good craft beers in his wive's purse. But if you want to keep it affordable and also appealing to the uninitiated, you probably have to stay as middle of the road as you can. My first inclination would be a barleywine but that may be too much for some people. How about a Duvel blonde bomber for each table?

Suggest you try some different varieties of Oomegang in 750ml bottles. Good beer, not too expensive.

Chimay Blue, Red, White? Pick your desired style and run with it.

    Cheers!

That's a cool IDEA! I'm geting married May 4th and am going to have a bottle of Westy 12 for myself. Maybe I should get a 750ml bottle for each table too. Maybe some of these would be good choices:

    Noble Rot
    Red & White
    Black & Blue
    Rodenbach Grand Cru

Of you can get up to Kenosha you should get some Raspberry Tart by New Glarus. Belgian Red, too.

I'm thinking about a case of Cuvee Rene if you want to keep the price down and appeal to man and women.

Of course a couple Black Tuesday's would look nice. A case of FBS would work as well

Just curious if your location allows it? It seems like mine - getting hitched in Lake Placid, NY, in August - won't let you bring in your own booze, as they are providing catering and open bar. They do have Ubu ale on tap from the local Lake Placid Brewery, which is pretty good, and possibly something from Davidson Brothers, who are down in Glens Falls and have a pretty good rating here.

Did you arrange this with them ahead of time? Thinking I may have to do what the first replier said, and sneak them in...or maybe pop something later at the afterparty...can't imagine I will get to do too much relaxed drinking during the reception anyway.

What my wife and I did for favors was go to a Brew on Premise and Brew a 15 Gallon batch of one of our own homebrew recipes. It made 124 12oz bottles, and came with free labels for $215. We had a July wedding, and made a Black Currant Saison.

I think giving out something you made on your own is much cooler than buying a few cases of bottles...

Thanks for all the replies everyone, theres some great suggestions here. I'm leaning toward one of the bottles at the table being Stone's Old Guardian because its readily available, I like it, and affordable at around $7 a bottle here.

As far as the location being on board with it, they definitely are. It's one of the first things I asked the venue manager when we went to take a look at the space.

I've never seen this before...the review page says summer release so it's definitely a possibility if I can find it around here when the time comes. Thanks

Yeah Bells Wedding Ale would be choice if it comes out in time and to my distro. I doubt it though. Very cool and a great idea. I was thinking of doing Infinium but I only have two bottles and it's expensive.

We got a keg of Two Brothers in addition to the standard keg of BMC swill. Then we placed a display tent thingy on each table telling the guest about the better beer option...

It was a big hit. If your caterer allows for you to get a keg from a brewery that you enjoy I would definitely suggest it.

    Just my $.02

    Cheers!

I work for a distributor and we get multiple requests a year for Bell's Two Hearted for weddings. Even though it's named after a fish, the whole 2 hearts coming together thing seems to be a hit.

One of the earlier posters said it - Ommegang. Reasonably priced and available. I'd go with Hennepin and Three Philosophers or Abbey. You also can't go wrong with Saison Dupont and St. Bernardus. Congrats by the way.

First and foremost, congratulations! And what a good idea that is, lots of tasty suggestions so far. As others have said, I think some varieties of Ommegang would be nice.

I am getting married in October, and we are doing something similar.....3 kegs is the plan- ST Pumking, Bell's Two Hearted, and the third is up in the air. Thinking FBS, if available, or Lakefront Oktoberfest. The jury is still out....

Don't forget, depending on your location, Fall is in the air for a September wedding and an appropriate seasonal may be choice!
