Congrats on the wedding. Put in there whatever you would like, if they like it they can drink it if not, shit it's free they shouldn't bitch. My daughter got married a year ago and the grooms family wanted to pick up the alcohol tab, so I readily agreed. Damned venue my they picked out made you buy the alcohol from them at $300 a keg for bud/miller products. He asked what i wanted and I said whatever he got would be fine, I wasn't going to be drinking much that night at the wedding. I bought the alcohol for the after party, 2 cases yellow rose, a few 4 packs of Leo V. Ursus, several mix packs of craft then a ton of bud lite, miller lite and mich lite. I stayed up until 5:30 am, no craft beer returned back to my house. A lot of macro drinking people were swigging yellow rose, so like to think there was some people drawn over to the god beer side. Great wedding, better after party.

The nice part of doing the wedding at home is no over charging venue. The downside is if I over buy, I'm stuck with a bunch of beer/liquor/wine.... worse problems out there to have I guess. I can give the extra light beer away and drink the leftover craft beers I offer. Our honey moon is a statewide brewery tour, so I gotta save some fridge space for my return from that.

Keep in mind that Costco, at least in Texas will accept returns on wine, not sure about beer. My wife's cousin did all the alcohol at his daughter's wedding and he spoke with Costco to find out the specifics. Something to keep that in mind, might be worth looking into

I don't think most places here will return anything alcohol related, but I can check. I'm friends with a person that recently bought a little general store down the road, so I'll probably be able to not buy as much light/full beer initially and have her sell me some on the fly if it runs low. It's literally a mile down the road, so it shouldn't be an issue. Wine on the other hand will probably be gifted to friends as we buy stuff without phosphates in them, made locally. Hopefully there's not too much liquor left. I'm trying to not over buy on that. Worse case scenario, I host another party haha.

Seeing as it's "YOUR day" you should have what YOU like. Any craft drinker will appreciate a choice that is not miller lite, budweiser, etc.

Ok. If it were me I would have an approachable IPA (America's favorite style) and a pilsner, for everyone who want a beer but is put off by Bud. Keep it simple. People will be having fun. Enjoy

    Congratulations!

When my wife and I got married in 2013 it was a similar drill, except we had 300 guests and kegs weren't allowed. To keep costs low, we had an open bar, but only with beer and wine. Rather than picking a beer for the "Lite" crowd and one for the craft folks, I just picked three that I thought would appeal to the most people and that I really liked back then:

    -Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
    -Anchor Steam
    -Widmer Bros. Hefeweizen

The first two are excellent beers in their own right, and the latter is an adequate filler/gateway beer. Plus that mix goes with virtually any and all foods. If you're not a light beer fan, I wouldn't bow to pressure to have it for your guests. People are there for you, not the beer--at least they should be. Plus, what kind of person refuses free beer?

Lagunitas ipa is a good one to have at weddings. Simple and easy drinking.
