You can't plan something that perfect. You just have to be open to it happening.

    Sums things up for me.

Save the rare beers for a 'tasting'. The wedding is about the wedding - there will be plenty special about it in and of itself.

If you can slide it onto the master bill so the father of the bride pays for it, then yes.

If there's ever a time to drink Utopias, it's at your wedding. Besides, after that, your wife will never consent to that again :grinning:

Maybe try to get a Firestone reserve beer? A couple weeks ago at my friends wedding us groomsmen toasted before pictures by splitting a bottle of Stickee Monkee 8 ways.

I plan on having a lot of affordable, easy drinking things that everyone can enjoy, but I want to have some really nice bottles just for my wedding table that I can share with my groomsmen/best friends that are really into craft.

I would say do a split like that, and everyone should be pleased!

Had my wedding a few weeks ago - shots of Fireball before, group shotgunned Full Nelson IPA cans after... great day!

I have been thinking about this too since I am getting married in a couple months. I think I am going with IPA's and a couple barley wines. Utopia is a nice idea but I have also heard a bunch of reviews saying that its really not worth $200. You could put that $200 to a whole lot of good beers rather then one bottle.

Got my wedding in a little under 2 months and been planning it out. I am not planning on having more than 4 to 5 beers the entire day (8-10 hours including setup) but wanted to make sure to have a good selection. Will have 2 beers not on the list for friends I know will appreciate them (Central waters BA stout and barleywine) and then 3 others for the crowd (Old Rasputin, Mirror Pond, SN Summerfest). I am planning on cracking a few beers from the collection at the rehearsal and I know friends will be bringing some as well but my main goal is to enjoy the day and not get drunk, and any beers leftover I am happy to drink later  Good luck and hopefully your beer budget is higher than your wine budget (can't believe I spent more on beer than wine)

On my daughters wedding day I plan on opening a vertical of Lost Abbey Duck Duck Gooze, I pray she stays single for another 15 years.

I'm getting married in September. My groomsmen and I will be having fresh Nosferatu and flipside ipa. My poor guests will be having busch light and bud light. It's free so I'm sure no one will complain

I just had my wedding 3 weeks ago, and before the wedding I had the groomsmen over to try some good beers. They are not as into craft beer, but I wanted them to try different styles of the good stuff, so I popped a couple PtEs as well as a Parabola and a Lolita. I had a couple sips of each, but wanted to be coherent. For the actual wedding I brought a couple Enjoy By 5/16s (wedding was on 5/16, so it felt appropriate) and PtE for me. I ended up giving the PtEs to my cousin and drank a 5/16. For the guests I wanted to provide a local, but crowd friendly line up....FW DBA, Anchor Steam, Trumer, and Lagunitas Sucks. Totally up to you, but I wanted to save the rare stuff, since it was a bit of a whirlwind day.

I just got married a week ago and I'll tell you, you will not have much time to really enjoy a great beer. That is unless you really plan for it. I think you'd be too rushed to bust out a bottle of Utopias.

I saved a bottle of Barrel Aged Bigfoot for 2 years for a special occasion and we ended up opening it. I think I had half a glass before the damn photographers screwed up my plans. One of my groomsmen brought a bottle of Madame Rose that we opened first thing and we finished it, it was awesome

My advice is just drink a few cold ones, maybe one good one before your wedding but wait til you have time to enjoy a really special beer with your buds. Cheers and congrats.

If you actually think the taste of the liquid that comes out of utopias is worth $200 (that's cheap) then you're looking at it all wrong. (or right, i guess…depends on your perspective!)

Although, if you share utopias with a bunch of people who don't "get it" they're all gonna think you're stupid for dropping that cash or just simply won't appreciate it. Save the utopias for your closest group of beer friends.
