So I am tying the knot next Saturday and need some ideas for keg beer. Keep in mind as much as I love super hoppy beer, I know that the majority of people at the wedding will not lol. I'm thinking something mild but tasty to the average pallet. I'm considering Capital Amber from Capital Brewing, plus thats a local beer here in WI. Any other ideas for me guys?

Can't go wrong with SNPA, or maybe some 60 minute? Congrats, man!

If the majority will not like super hoppy, get a 1/2 keg of something middle of the road like SNPA for them and get yourself a 1/6 keg or a case of something super hoppy.

Sam Octoberfest will go over well most likely.

Jnorton, thats a good idea actually. Now I'm thinking an Octoberfest style beer. Damn good idea. I wonder if I can get some Great Lakes Octoberfest in keg form here, or if they can get it, that would be perfect.

Actually, you can go wrong with SNPA or 60minute. These are often too bitter for the general beer drinking public that is used to drinking light American adjunct lagers. The majority of people would probably find 60 minute a terrible experience in their mouth. If the OP wants something like this available and has a few people that will drink it, sure then, get a sixtel.

I would look for something local and more approachable to the general beer drinker for the crowd. Capital Oktoberfest maybe?

seriously if you doing craft kegs go small unless everyone invited as is a beer nut like you are...I do mixed bmc stuff in coolers cheaper...but hey you never said anything about the funds on hand. You could be rich..in that case, buy all bombers, lol......

Spotted Cow would be the best, most obvious beer in WI I would think.

Congrats! Yeah, I also think Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, or perhaps a 60 minute, if not an Oktoberfest beer should be fine. No matter what you decide to get there might be people who will still think its too boozy or bitter :/ but hey its your wedding!

If you can only have one keg, I would go with Sierra Nevada Summerfest if its still available or an Oktoberfest.

    @cubbyswans

Best suggestion yet, and your post made me laugh, because you are so right. I'll have to try the capital octoberfest out, otherwise I guess the amber will be the beer of choice. Maybe a full keg is unecessary, and half keg would be better.

We had a keg of hop devil and a keg of stoudts weizen. This was 15 years ago and not as many choices then. kicked them both. It was a hot September day. If getting married now I might go for Victory prima pils( great beer with mass appeal) and maybe torpedo. It depends on the time of year as well.

    Congrats and Enjoy

    The day goes reallly fast

I'd go with either of the 2 New Glarus options mentioned. Moon Man or Spotted Cow are fairley easy drinking, and being a local beer some of the guests have likely tried it. I'd then get a sixtel of your preference. This way there are options.

Well, SNPA being not approachable to the general public is only your opinion. In my opinion, it is. Cheers.

Ballast Point Calico Amber is quite good and a crowd pleaser IMO.

I said it was 'often' too bitter, and that the OP should look for something 'more' approachable. I would serve this to a crowd, but I would have something a bit easier as well, if I did.

    Cheers.
