I apologize if this has been posted before. But looking to give out home brewed beers at my upcoming wedding and wondering if anyone has any good ideas for wedding beers and best way to do the labels. Is there a place that can make them and send them to me? Or is it better to do it on my own? I have some ideas for names, but am up for suggestions. If anyone is good at making labels, I would appreciate any help. Hoping to make a coffee stout and something easier for the general masses (maybe a Texas pecan nut ale). Thanks guys
I've used a company called Grog Tag for my Xmas gift beers. You might google 'em and check out their website, which has some templates you could play with. Dunno what to tell you about the beer... brewing for the 'general masses' can definitely be a challenge.
There are several that let you create designs, then print them off, or upload your design and have them printed and sent to you. Two I know of off the top of my head are MyOwnLabels and Beer Labelizer. If you're interested in creating your own, you can check pretty much any homebrew supply store, be it your local or online, and they'll have labels from 4th and Vine. They have a few templates meant for weddings. Of course, there's always the GIMP, printer paper and milk thing too, if you're artistically inclined.
My solution was to print my own labels onto ordinary paper and use clear plastic adhesive sheet (such as is sold for protecting maps, documents and book covers) to fix them over the bottles.Cut the sheet a bit larger than the label , place it sticky side up and place the label (design side down) onto it. Then use the exposed extra border to fix the label to the bottle. Quick, easy and cheap with the added advantage of being waterproof.
I have used BottleYourBrand. They weren't cheap ($0.79 per label for 50) but they were great quality. Vinyl labels with adhesive back and the ink and picture quality was very good also. The vinyl was great in a cooler of ice and the ink didn't bleed. I used them for my brother's wedding. They were as much as the beer so it's not something I will do on a regular basis but I splurged for the wedding.
Yes, definitely wracked my brain trying to figure out what to brew that was approachable for wedding crowds...I've done ten gallons of beer for a wedding gift twice now. The first was 10 gallons of a Gumballhead clone (called it "Gumball & Chain"), and all 10 gallons got obliterated. The second time, I did five gallons of that and 5 gallons of a brown ale per the groom's request. The Gumballhead clone was definitely the more popular. I haven't done labels yet, so I can't really help on that front. There's a label thread from a couple of weeks back where I posted my first design looking for feedback, and I recall that there was some discussion of methods.
Let me save you a lot of trouble. Do you plan for them to be put on ice? If you make your own you will run into two problems. 1. ink running (You can get them printed on laser printer with the Avery waterproof labels, but they still have problem number 2....which is they float off in ice water. I found a glass adhesive to fix this problem. However, I highly suggest just having them made. http://www.bottleyourbrand.com/custom-beer-labels says they are waterproof, but that still doesn't mean the adhesive will keep the label on the bottle when in ice. Google and call to ensure whatever company you go with provides a label that the ink will not run and the label stays on under ice water. If you are not putting the bottle in ice, then print your own using www.beerlabelizer.com on a mailing label of your choice. By the way, using the one sided laminated paper thing didn't work out for me. It came off in water as well.
as for what beers to have; how many people are coming? how many types of beer do you want to serve? What will the atmosphere be like? When is the wedding?
