About to hook up with Don (digita7693) in The Bow Bar in Edinburgh. Don't know what's on offer but I'd be pretty surprised if there weren't at least a couple of tasty treats on air pressure from casks.

Pondhopper out psyched me so I fell to its temptation, shades of St Lupulin only more so.

It's alot better than most macros to be fair. Palatable swigged from the bottle (and I mean big swigs).

Was the Ageless any good? I had it a while back and didn't form a favourable opinion - but I got the impression that the bottle was spoiled/infected. It was oxidised and sour, which didn't go down well.

Yup, I'm inclined to agree. I didn't really know what to make of it; it just wasn't balanced. Tons of hop aroma/flavour, but the malt was seriously lacking. The hops also seemed too 'green', or perhaps this was due to yeast esters. At any rate - not really a mild and not one I'll be having again (bearing in mind that I've enjoyed some of Hardknott's other offerings).

Right, enough innuendo. I'm currently drinking an Old Golden Hen, which is a bit rubbish. Have already consumed a UK-brewed Rolling Rock (like fizzy water) and a Brewer's Droop. Something tasty coming up next....

As I've had it many times I can vouch that Ageless is a very good beer, and that your bottle must have been infected. It's not Axe Edge, but also certainly not the foul creature you encountered.

Alrighty then - I'm now on Arbor Ales' Down Deeper DIPA. This is a fruity monster! Though the carbonation seems to have gone walkabout.

Yeah same here, very hazy too even though i poured it carefully. Having said that i'd drink it again if there's any left up here.

The lot? Wow, I expected them to export a good deal because, yeah, the US loves the style. Good strategy on Fuller's part, I guess.

I was going to warn you about the cork...my bottle's cork shot out shortly after I took the cage off. I guess yours, thankfully, didn't. I thought it was a lot of bucks to pay for a brew that wasn't, imho, even as good as St Lupulin.(disregard my review of SL, I've since grown to appreciate it)
