Had a Fullers 1845 with my sausage, gravy and mash tonight. And quite nice it was too.
I need to see what else might tempt me from the tickle trunk.

Nice. Since marriage, children, dog and guinea pig there's been no home brewing for me.

Checking in after five pints of Buxton Imperial Black IPA with a 20-pack of Stella to see me through the night.

Oustanding. And that's a 7.5% ABV Black IPA as well. You sure can compete Scoops.

Going to blackmail the other half into driving me to the Coppers 8 til 8 tomorrow. Summer Whine, Tempest, Fyne and Arbor are all soon to be mine.

Easing down as the weather's turning and I quite fancy a morning in the Peaks tomorrow. The less Stella I drink now, the better I feel tomorrow, the more I can drink in Sheffield on the way home.

I saw Imperial Black in the shop but it was almost £4 for a bottle :S

Anyhoo I had a bottle of Dark Island with breakfast (hadn't slept so technically 9am was still really really really late at night)

Then a pint of Marstons Single Hop Cascade down the pub (they did an amazing Mexican chicken wrap too). It's a shame to see over the weekend all the pints have gone up by 40p. Even Marstons EPA is now £2.35 whereas it used to be £1.99.

    £4 for a 50cl bottle? I'd buy that. OK, I'd rather pay £3.20 a pint - and have a 4-pint carryout - but I'd say that was a fair price for a well-crafted beer.

+40p is a kick in the nuts, though. I have to be honest, deep as I am into Marston's territory I don't visit that many of their pubs. EPA has always struck me as an inoffensive yet reasonably priced pint. Not for much longer, it seems.

£3.20?!? Is that how much you pay for a pint of Imperial Black? I pay £4.20 and thought that was reasonable, all things considered.

I reckon they're just trying to get their money back after their month long "beer festival" in which all pints were £2.25. Apparently the pub is a Stonegate Company pub, though they must have some sort of deal with Marstons.

and they were £3.69 :stuck_out_tongue: though I might treat myself after exams are over.

A grand day in the Peaks would have led to a pint in the Cheshire Cheese, Hope, but I ain't queuing for Bradfield Farmer's Blonde. Back to the Sheffield Tap for lashings of Jaipur and the really rather impressive Camden Town Black Friday.

I had a fuckload of work to do but have now finished, and am settling into a Buxton High Tor.

    So good.
