Late to the party as usual. Canned Weihenstphaner would be excellent.
I remember 15 years or more ago getting Paulaner Hefe in cans from Grocery Outlet..i bought a dozen cases..because you never know. They were great but i never saw them again..i hope Weihenstephan are not so cruel.

The hefe cans have been in NC for several weeks and I’m two four packs in. This beer screams spring to me for some reason. Still a world class example of the style and super fresh in the new format.

Weihenstephan has always been one of my favorite hefes, but I took a break from it for a year or two to try other ones. Then a few months back I bought some bottles and it just didn't seem the same, or as good, as I remembered. While out shopping yesterday I came across some of the new cans and decided to give it a try again and was pleasantly surprised, as it looked and tasted like it's old self. Maybe cans are the way to go from now on.

Keep in mind that the cans are a different beer from the "Original" in the bottles.

I think this post is referencing the Hefeweizen.

You're right -- I expected the lead to be buried, but it was right where I didn't expect it!

Good news: I picked up a six pack today of Weihenstephan Original bottled in the third week of January (damn).

Better news: I can now do a side by side with the new Helles cans.

I will report back with pictures.

I finally made the effort to track some down. Currently cooling in the fridge. Oddly, I am a fan of Hefes and have been drinking Paulaner Hefe in cans regularly, but I have never had Weinheinstephan Hefe. While I was there I picked up a few bottles of Vitus to provide some balance.

Still not seeing these cans out here in Central Oregon. Hoping the Helles hits by the time we get into summer.

It's not going to knock your socks off but I find it quite tasty, especially as you suggest as a warm weather beverage. My only concern is freshness after the initial batches are sent out.

I just checked the bottom o' the can. It shows 11-19-2021 so if best by is 9 months out, it was canned mid February.

Earlier posts in this thread seem to indicate that 11-19-20 was the canning date. A best-by date of a year is pretty typical for a lot of German imports.

Has it been confirmed that Weihenstephan uses 9 month dating? Seems most German imports are 12 months.

Double-checked..it's clearly printed 11-19-2021..so that must be the best by date. I was just going by what I thought I remembered from discussion at this board with the 9 month bit. Some more transparency from our German brewing friends would be welcome.
