Maybe if the first two are successful?

I was thinking Paulaner Pils. I'll scoop that up as soon as I see it. Hopefully the grocery that carries Paulaner Hefe and Munich Lager will add the Pils as well.

Yeah we do, duh. Completely forgot about those.

I always buy the six packs, that’s why.

Yup, it is 100% the new recipe, which unfortunately, is disappointing.

Flavor profile is dialed back considerably, they weren’t kidding when they said “easy drinker” with a “light body”.

It’s not flawed, but damn is it light. I’ve only had one can so far, but I was really disappointed, as this is arguably my favorite Helles when fresh, and this is NOT my favorite Helles.

Hopefully it gets better with the other three cans, but my first impression was really disappointing. Again, nothing particularly “bad” about it flavor-wise, it just simply doesn’t have that sweet melanoidin hit you get with the Helles, with a thinner body to boot.

    Well, that sucks to hear.
I haven't had the Original in a while, so I can't comment succinctly, but I'm finding that melanoidin character lacking in a lot of beers that used to carry it.

Well, no wonder it didn't taste right -- you poured it into a Weizen glass.

Haha, I knew someone would say that!

It’s the only Weihenstephan branded glass that I own. To honor the new cans I wanted to use their glass, even if it’s the wrong style glass.

I probably pissed off the beer gods, I’ll use a Willi Becher or something similar for the next one!

Ok, round two, this time on a clean palate. This one tasted better but my initial thoughts still hold.

It’s weird, despite the decrease in IBUs I almost felt as if the hops popped a bit more than usual. Perhaps due to the lack of depth in the malt profile?

Maybe it just tasted better due to the glass.@steveh

Could be the malt profile, but I also feel like these new cans tend to be some of the freshest examples we get here in states, so the hops seemingly pop more, but its really just that we're drinking it fresher than we ever have ...

I dunno, says "ale" on the glass, may have confused the beer again.

FWIW -- looked for this locally today, no luck.

I'm really not sure, but it might be in MA, PA and GA only at the moment.

Good to know. I’d like to buy the Helles but haven’t seen it in NY yet. It would help if that beer was even a searchable option in the brewer’s or importer’s beer finder.

That seems a little better, but why the Northeast cluster -- then Georgia and Michigan (and Ohio, to some extent).

Just wonder how they mapped out logistics. Another grand mystery of beer distribution in the U.S.

If you promised to post pictures of the new canned beers in Weihenstephan branded glassware they in turn promised to distribute to your state.

So, you promised months ago and they bought it?

But you know they're going to retract it all because you used the wrong glass to-style.

Weihenstephaner Bier Police are outside your door right now...
